RACING PREVIEW: DECEMBER 1 TO 4

RENO, NV (Nov. 30) — As we head into December there is a big weekend ahead for car and motorcycle groups. Looking at the TV, well we’re in the annual journey to the Re-Run Zone but take heart as racing starts right after the New Year.

CAR MEETS:

Nevada Jeep Club starts the weekend with a meet at the new 4-Wheel Parts facility by Meadowood Mall. Photo courtesy – Nevada Jeep Club.

• Saturday gets going at 10 a.m. when Nevada Jeep Club has a meet at the new 4-Wheel Parts facility located at 5405 Meadowood Mall Circle. After the meet there will probably be an off-road cruise but the location has to be determined and I’m guessing the weather will be a factor.

Sunday starts with the 7th Annual Toy Run hosted by Reno Cars & Coffee.

• Sunday begins at 10 a.m. by the Keitzke Starbucks when Reno Cars & Coffee has its 7th annual Toy Run. Those participating are asked to bring an unwrapped toy.

At 11:30 a.m. there is a cruise heading to the Northtowne Winco parking lot to meet with the Old Slammers of Reno Car Club.

Reno Harley Davidson is the gathering point for Sunday’s 42nd Annual Reno Toy Run.

• Bike riders also have a function for them as Sunday is the 42nd annual Reno Toy Run. Registration begins at 10 a.m. at the Reno Harley Davidson and people are asked to bring an unwrapped toy.

Staging the Toy Run is the Northern Nevada Confederation of Clubs. Kickstands up at noon and the parade, led by Santa,  travels through downtown to where the big party will be held.

Starting at 11 a.m. Sunday the Old Slammers of Reno club is hosting their 9th annual Toys for Kids drive to help the Children’s Cabinet.

• Up at the Northtowne Winco Park Lot the Old Slammers of Reno are hosting their 9th annual Toys for Kids. Meet begins at 11 a.m. and goes until 3 p.m.

Once again people are asked to donate unwrapped toys and those go to help the Children’s Cabinet. Sometime around noon those from the Reno Cars & Coffee will arrive and make their donations.

ANNOUNCEMENT: These Toy Runs will happen rain, snow or shine. Let’s pray for a break in the weather so it’s dry when these meets and parade happen.

PRACTICE (Motocycles):

The motocross track is closed this weekend due to the incoming weather. Photo courtesy – Fernley 95A Motorsports Complex.

• Due to the incoming weather the motocross tracks at Fernley 95A Motorsport Complex are closed this weekend. The weather this month will determine if they will be open or not.

• Incoming weather is going to have an effect on the Northern California tracks as well.

Due to the incoming weather REP Racing MX has canceled events for two tracks.

– REP Racing MX has already canceled practice at both Riverfront MX and Prairie City. The annual Toy Drive races at PC, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday are canceled, at least for now. Once again  best bet is to check with the track for up dates.

  • E Street MX is also iffy and said they will post an update on Friday.
Depending on the weather MMX may or may not have practice starting at 9 a.m. Sunday. Photo courtesy – David Wolf.

• MMX Racing appears it might be a go starting at 9 a.m. Sunday but the weather will determine if this actually happens. Best bet is to check with the track on Saturday.

Then at 5 p.m. Mavtv has Lucas Oil Speedway Saturday Night races.

• Sunday there of course is www.mavtv.com as well as www.floracing.com and both have a variety of events. Over on www.youtube.com there are highlights as well as short track events.
