RACING PREVIEW: JANUARY 26 TO29

RENO, NV (Jan. 25) — We’re about to head into February and this is actually a pretty big race weekend. Soon green flags will fly in our region however for now one needs to travel to see them live although TV and the Internet has a bunch.

CAR MEETS:

Fernley Car Meets get together every Friday and Saturday by the 76th Station.

• Usually the fifth weekend of a month is a dead time but not so any more. The Fernley Car Meets will be happening every weekend on Friday and Saturday. The times are 7:30 until 11 a.m. and location is the 76th station in Fernley.

PRACTICE & RACING (MOTORCYCLES):

The series continues this weekend at the Oatfield track. Saturday is for practice while Sunday is raceday.

• The Frigid 7 P.R.O. Motocros series continues this weekend at the Argyll track. Saturday is for practice while Sunday is race day.

The motocross track has practice from 10 to 3 Saturday and Sunday.

• Locally the motocross track at Fernley NinetyfiveA Motorsports Complex is open for practice from 10 until 3 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. There are new rules for spectators so be sure to check their website.

• E Street has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on the front and back tracks.

• Riverfront MX has practice from 4 until 9 p.m. Thursday. Saturday is a private ride day but Sunday, from 9 until 2 p.m. is open practice on the main, vet and kids tracks.

• Prairie City has a small problem; they need an EMT so practice can be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you know anyone that could help please have them contact www.repracingmx.com.

RACING (OFF ROAD):

• This weekend kicks off the annual King of the Hammers held down at Johnson Valley, outside of 29 Palms, California.

This weekend King of the Motos begins this festival of speed and crazy racing through the rocks. The series now has a channel on www.youtube.com and this might also have the live feeds from the event.

The event brings thousands of people to the area and most stay for the full week. For further information please check, www.kingofthehammers.com.

• Legacy Racing Association is starting its 2023 season this weekend at Pahrump, Nevada. Pre running begins Thursday while Saturday is race day. It’s the 4WP Desert Showdown and a great way to get the racing year started.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

• The weekend begins at 8:30 a.m. Friday when CBS Sports Network carries the first Formula E race from Diriyah.

Saturday is when IMSA stages the twice around the clock Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona Internatoinal Speedway. Photo courtesy – pennlive.com.

• Saturday is when the annual Rolex 24 race for the IMSA Weather Tech Sports Cars begins the twice-around-the-clock classic. Location is the Daytona International Speedway.

The start will be shown at 9:30 on NBC then switch to Peacock and then over to the USA network.

Saturday is the next round of the AMA Supercross season. This time it’s Anaheim 2. Graphic courtesy – AMA Supercross.

• At 1:30 p.m. Peacock airs AMA Supercross live then at 7 p.m. the network broadcasts the racing from Anaheim 2. Can Eli Tomac continue his winning streak, we’ll find out Saturday evening.

• The Rolex 24 Hour race continues Sunday morning. First on the USA Network then at 9 a.m. until the finish NBC will broadcast it.

Finally at 3:30 p.m. on CBS Sports Network the second Formula E race from Diriyah will be shown.

That’s if for this weekend folks. Spring is getting closer as is the promise of more green flags and gates dropping. If possible to get out and see either a race or a car meet.

Saturday is when the annual Awards Banquet happens for those in the MRANN Series. Location is at Boomtown and it promises to be a great evening with raffle prizes and awards. The top 20 big bike winners will also get their numbers for the 2023 season.

• Due to the amount of mud remaining the track workday at Rattlesnake Raceway has been canceled. They hope to have a workday in February.

Davey’s American Racing is on at 6 p.m. Wednesday on Face Book.

• Wednesday, starting at 6 p.m. is when Davey’s American Racing is on Face Book. He covers national and area racing every week so it’s a good way to catch up and get ready for the next week.
