ODD WEEKEND BUT MORE RACING COMING

RENO, NV (Feb. 27) — No car meet report this weekend, will explain later, but things get rolling this week and weekend. Racing is returning to our region.

• While this isn’t Cars & Coffee report something major is happening this week. On March 1st, online registrations for the upcoming Virginia City Grand Prix open.

Two months until the annual Virginia City Grand Prix. Online registration begins on March 1.

The drawings apparently go by the day of the entry. This means a rider’s chance at a low number, and starting at the front or close to the front of their group is best on that first day.

For further information one needs to go to www.vcgp.com and follow the instructions for registering on line. Good luck folks.

This weekend VORRA begins its desert racing series with the El Coyote 400. Photo courtesy VORRA.

• This weekend VORRA (Valley Off Road Racing Association) begins its desert racing season. Location is in Lovelock and the C Punch Casino is the headquarters while the pit area will be at Lovelock Speedway.

The full schedule for this weekend’s VORRA event out at Lovelock.

Thursday is the pre-race party then Friday is for qualifying and tech at C Punch. Saturday begins at 9 a.m. when the first racer is launched and Sunday is when the awards are handed out.

Considering the snow this weekend should be an interesting course. I’m sure mud will be part of it.

For further information please to go www.vorraracing.com.

• The second race of MRANN’s season is on Saturday and Sunday. Moto Novo M/C is presenting The Awakening Grand Prix.

Thanks to Winnemucca MX offering its course the race will start and finish there. Once again snow and mud will probably be a part of the courses used.

The second race of MRANN’s season is this weekend. Event will use part of the Winnemucca MX course.

Things begin Saturday at 10 when the youngest of the Pee Wee racers start then the older Pee Wee racers being their event at 10:45 as both ride a short course.

Noon is when the Mini Bikes/V Women and Bomber racers get their turn. Their race is timed and uses at 35-mile long track. Should be a good race and probably close as well.

Saturday afternoon, starting at 4 p.m. is when there will be a 30-minute Pit Bike race.

Sunday is when the Big Bikes take to a 40-mile course. A rider must complete one lap to be classed as a finisher.

Once again the new pro AA Class will go first followed by the other classes. While the last race was a runaway for the winner third through four place riders were less than a second apart.

For more information please go to www.racemranncom.

REPORTER’S NOTE: Planned to attend Sunday’s Sparks & Coffee meet. Then the next day saw another notice for a change of venue.

Sadly no one was there and I was out of time to get back over to Sparks. Hope to have that resolved by their next meet. Sorry for such a short report this time around.
