DIAMOND MOUNTAIN RACES

SUSANVILLE, CALIF. (May 20) — Diamond Mountain Speedway had a Friday-Saturday show this weekend. Both days featured intense racing and action to entertain the crowd of spectators.

After Saturday’s heat races and some work on the track was completed it was time to get the night’s show rolling. First class to running their A Feature were the Street Stocks.

After the green it only took Randy Boyd three laps, after starting eighth, to take the lead. Things slowed when Michael Beauchman had a problem and went over theTurn 3 banking.

When the green waved again things came to a sudden halt when two cars tangled in Turn4. One of them sent a wheel that rolled down the track all the way around to the backstretch.

Randy Boyd got the night’s racing started when he won the Street Stock feature.

Only five cars took the final green and once again Boyd took off and cruised to victory. Behind him Madison Hood was second followed by third place Johnny Moya and Jeff Willis.

Next up were the IMCA Northern Sport Mods. First on point was Shannon Barton but soon after that Ray Talevera took the point.

Jace Wright won the IMCA Northern Sport Mod feature.

Soon after that five cars tangled in Turn 3 bringing out the caution. On the restart there was a brief side-by-side duel but Jace Wright soon had the lead with Tyler Rodgers close behind.

In the end Wright won the battle with Rodgers not far behind in second. Behind them came third place Bryson Simeral and Buddy Olschowka.

When the Mini Stock feature began Angelo Rallo was first on point. Then a red flag flew when a car rolled over the Turn 2 banking; fortunately the driver was uninjured.

Heading to Mini Stock victory Tony Quinonez (blue car.) passes early leader Angelo Rallo.

On the restart Rallo led but was soon replaced by Tony Quinonez. At the checkered Quinonez won with Stephen Crook second and Rallo ended up third.

When the IMCA Modified feature began Galen Hainline was on point with Paris Archie close behind. Then there was an early caution when a car backed into the front stretch wall.

When the green waved again Hainline took off but closing was a charging Chris Nieman. Back in the pack Kate Robertson was also on a charge and soon took over third place.

Nieman would take the lead while Paris Archie, Hainline and Robertson had a long duel for second place. Two more cautions slowed the pace and bunched the cars.

In the IMCA Modified feature winner Chris Nieman was chased by Peris Archie.

In the end Nieman won while behind him Archie ended up second followed by Hainline and Robertson, who slipped to fourth in the final laps.

The night’s show ended with the IMCA Stock Car division. Six cars took the green and the duo of Jefr Olschowka and Ryan Belli led the charge.

During the race there was a brief red flag when a car got stuck at the top of the Turn 2 banking. Once that was dealt with racing resumed.

Wade Kennemore (24) won the IMCA Stock Car feature. He he holds off Gary Huhtala.

This time Wade Kennemore took the lead but was under attack by the duo of Jeff Olschowka and Gary Huhtala. It was a three-way duel for the lead with Kennemore just hanging on.

At the end of the IMCA Stock Car feature Gary Huhtala and Jeff Olschowka tangled and slid onto the infield in a huge cloud of dust.

In fact Kennemore and Huhtala swapped the lead a couple of them in a side-by-side duel. At the checkered Kennemore won but behind him runner up Huhlala and third place Olschowka tangled and slid onto the infield in a huge dust cloud.
