RACING PREVIEW: JULY 13 TO 16

RENO, NV (July 13) — Due to receiving up dates after I usually post the preview I’m switching to posting them Thursday. Any Thursday happenings I’ll include in Monday’s article.

CAR MEETS:

Tonight is another Thursday Nite Cruise in Carson City.

• While this week’s is late I’ll include schedule for the Carson City Thursday Nite Cruisers. Only two more after this week.

Summit Racing in Sparks is having another cruise in on Friday.

• Summit Racing, located on East Glendale in Sparks is having another Friday Night Cruise. Should be cooler and a good way to wind up the workweek. It starts around 5 p.m.

Fallon Cars “N” Coffee has a meet on Saturday morning when it’s still cool.

• Saturday gets rolling when Fallon Cars “N” Coffee hosts another of its meets. Times are 8:30 to noon and the location is The Alley Bar located at 1555 South Taylor.

In Carson City Pulse Exotics Cars & Coffee is having a meet that starts at 9 a.m,. Saturday.
  • That same day, from 9 until 11 a.m. Pluse Exotics Cars and Coffee. Times are 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. and the location is 3917 North Carson Street in Carson City.
Reno Cars & Coffee has its second meet of the month by the Human Bean Coffee stand located by Keitzke and Moana Lanes.

• Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. is when Reno Cars & Coffee has its second meet of the month. Location is by the Human Bean Coffee stand by the corner of Keitzke and Moana Lanes; easy access from the freeway.

  • That same morning, also starting at 10 a.m.is when Reno Jeeps & Coffee has a meet at the Human Bean Coffee stand located at the corner of Longley Lane and South McCarran.

RACING (4-WHEEL REGIONAL):

Still more work to be done before Top Gun Dragstrip is able to host racing again. As a result this week’s event has been canceled.

• With more clean up and repairs still to be done Top Gun Dragstrip has canceled its events this weekend. That also includes $5 Friday as well as Saturday and Sunday.

Summit Raceway in Elko has racing this Friday and Saturday evenings.
  • To the east Summit Raceway in Elko is having racing this weekend. They’ll have racing both Friday and Saturday nights with their first ever pit crew challenge during Saturday’s intermission.

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

• Fernley 95A Speedway has practice sessions on the motocross track this weekend. Times are 8 to1 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.

  • Riverfront MX has practice today, Thursday from 5:30 until 10 p.m. There is a private ride Saturday from 8 until 1 p.m. and due the expected heat the track is closed Sunday.
  • Prairie City has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Friday but is closed Saturday and Sunday due to the heat.
  • E Street MX is keeping an eye on the expected weather and hope to have an update Thursday, today, evening to be sure to check their page.
MMX Racing will have practice Saturday and Sunday. However they are starting an hour earlier.
  • MMX Racing has practice from 8 until 1 Saturday on the main, sand and kid tracks. Then on Sunday from 8 until 2 p.m. with the vintage track added to the mix. Note they are starting an hour earlier.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

• Thursday starts at 3 p.m. when Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub.

  • This is the week when the SRX series begins its season at Stafford. The events can be seen on ESPN and they are usually action packed short track events.

• Friday at 4 p.m. Fox Sports 1 will have NHRA Qualifier #1 from Denver,

• Saturday begins at 8 a.m. when Peacock broadcasts Race Day Live then at 11 a.m. they show the latest round of the Pro Motocross series from Millville.

  • At 9 a.m. CBS Sports has 2023 Extreme Outlaw Midgets from Salisbury.

         – The USA network at noon airs the Xfinity race from Loudon then at 5 p.m. Fox Sports 2 shows the ARCA Racing event from Iowa.

• Sunday starts at 5:30 a.m. when CBS Sports broadcast round 14 of the Formula E series from Rome, Italy. At 7:30 a.m. Fox Sports 1 has NHRA Qualifying #2 from Denver.

  • Peacock at 10:30 a.m. has the Indy Car race from Toronto. They time they race on the temporary course in Canada.

  • At 11:30 a.m. the USA Network has the NASCAR Cup race from the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. It’s usually an action packed event from there.
  • The day ends ate 1 p.m. when FOX has the Mile High Nationals from Denver. Now the NHRA is beginning its annual western sdwing.

That’s it for this weekend. Going to be hot so be safe out there and if possible to get out and see either a race or car meet.

Daveys American Racing is usually on at 6 p.m. Wednesday evenings. One can see the show on Face Book and get into the chat was well.

Davey covers national series as well as racing in the western United States. His focus is on oval tracks.
