RACING PREVIEW: SEPT. 28 TO OCT. 1

RENO, NV (Sept. 27) — Fall is upon us, area tracks are ending their seasons with special shows but there is more motorcycle racing to come. National series are in their countdown or playoff series. Car meets are winding down but there are still more to come.

CAR MEETS:

• Thursday at 7 a.m. the Iron Mafia hosts another meet at Kim’s Donuts and Tea House. All makes are welcome and the address is 1328 U.S. North 395 in Gardenerville.

Saturday is when the annual Silverado Classic happens in Fernley.

• On Friday, starting at 10 a.m. The Silverado Casino in Fernley is hosting a car show, the Silverado Classic, to benefit the Nevada Veteran’s Coalition, all proceeds are donated to that group.

Sunday is when Reno Cars & Coffee has its first of the momth meet.

• On Sunday, October 1 Reno Cars & Coffee gets the month rolling with a car meet. Things begin at 10 a.m. and the location is by the Keitzke Starbucks.

Baldini’s Casino in Sparks is the site of the 12th annual Fall Swap Meet.

• Also on Sunday, from 6:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Baldini’s Casino in Sparks has the 12th annual Fall Swap Meet. The Classic Chevy’s are hosting the meet that happens in the west parking lot.

RACING (4-WHEEL):

Winnemucca Regional Raceway ends its 2023 season with two nights of racing.

• Winnemucca Regional Raceway ends its 2023 season with two nights of racing. The Kids Karts start at 4:30 and the big cars take to the track at 7:30.

RACING & PRACTICE: (MOTORCYCLES):

The next round of the 2023 MRANN season is this weekend.

• This coming weekend is the next event in MRANN’s 2023 season. It’s the “Fast and Furry-ous 100,” hosted by  the Cheaters Motorcycle Club and the location is Blue Wing Flat.

  • Saturday starts at 9 a.m. with the Peewee’s and 65cc Novice riders. Then at 10 a.m. the Minis, Women and Bombers take to a short track and at 1 p.m. there are Pit Bike Team races.

         -Sunday is when the Big Bikes face the challenge of the 50-mile long course. The banner drops at 10 a.m. and a rider needs to complete one lap to be classed as a finisher.

Sunday, October 1st is a ride day to benefit the family of injured rider Seth Clark at Fernley 95A.

• Fernley 95A Speedway has open practice from 9 until 2 on Saturday. Sunday is a special ride day to help the family of Seth Clark, who suffered critical injuries during a race in Idaho. It’s an opportunity for the area motocross racers to help a fellow rider.

• There is plenty of motocross action over the hill this weekend.

Both tracks combine to hold an AMA District 36 Grand Prix.
  • On Saturday it’s time for the MMX & E Street Grand Prix where both tracks combine. It’s an AMA District 36 event and has a full day of racing and parking is at E Street.
After Saturday’s Grand Prix motocross MMX Racing has regular practice on Sunday.
  • After the GP MMX has regular practice on all tracks from 9 until 3 in the afternoon.
  • Riverfront MX has practice from 5 until 10 on Thursday. Saturday is a race day as gates open at noon with practice starting at 4 and racing to follow.
  • Prairie City MX has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

• Thursday has Fox Sports 1 broadcasting NASCAR Race Hub. More details on the elimination play off series.

• Friday at 4 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NHRA Qualifying Show #1 from the Mid-West Nationals at St. Louis.

• Saturday begins at 10 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 has the Craftsman Truck Series from Talladega. Then at 1 p.m. Fox Sports 2 has ARCA racing from Salem.

  • USA gets into the show at 1:30 p.m. when the network airs NASCAR Cup qualifying from Talladega.

• Sunday starts at 11 when CNBC, on a delayed basis airs the MotoGP race from Motegi.

  • NBC at 11 broadcasts the NASCAR Cup race from Talladega. With eliminations in the playoffs happening every race is critical for drivers trying to make the final round.

  • Fox Sports 1 at 11 has the NHRA Qualifying Show #2 then at noon the network airs the final round from the NHRA Mid-West Nationals. Once again points are critical for drivers and teams in the Countdown.
  • The day ends at 12:30 when CNBC, on a delayed basis, airs the World Super Bike race from Portugal.

That’s it for this weekend. If possible do get out and see a race live as there is nothing like it. Or, if possible join fellow car people at one of the meets.

It’s a big weekend for those NHRA racers that compete in the Summit Series.

We at Nvracingnews want to extend our best wishes to Northern Nevada Drat Racers competing in the NHRA Division 7 Series finals. The meet in Las Vegas runs from 9/29 through Sunday 10/1.

Results from the motocross races in Fernley are not posted.

Thursday evening there is a meeting.

• Thursday evening there will be a Winnemucca Motocross meeting at Winner’s Casino. For those that can’t attend it will be on Zoom.

Daveys American Racing is usually on Face Book at 6 p.m. Wednesday evenings. One can see the show on Face Book and get into the chat was well.

Daveys American Racing is on Face Book and covers oval track racing in the West.

Davey covers national series as well as racing in the western United States. His focus is on oval tracks.
