RACING PREVIEW: JANUARY 11 TO 14

RENO, NV (Jan. 10) – It’s the New Year and racing has started here as well as overseas. In just a couple of weeks racing will start in our area so good by to the Re-Run Zone.

CAR MEETS:

• Thursday starts early at 7:30 when the Iron Mafia holds its weekly met at Kim’s Donuts. Location is 1328 U.S395 North in Gardnerville. Dress warm as it’s supposed to be cold.

• The following afternoon, starting at 4:30 p.m., is the weekly Friday Night Meet in Fernley. Location is at the 76th station.

• Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. is the next meet for Sparks Cars & Coffee. Location is by the Starbucks on Disc Drive.

RACING (4-WHEEL):

The IMCA Winter Nationals goes through this Saturday.

• While there is no racing in our region, to the south in Arizona the IMCA.TV Winter Nationals at Cocopah Speedway go through Saturday.

There are a few Nevada drivers racing in this and the event can be seen on www.imca.tv.

RACING AND PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

• When this was posted there was nothing on Face Book for the Fernley Sandbox, E Street MX Park or MMX Racing. With incoming weather they’re probably waiting to see what is going to happen so be sure to check with the track’s website before heading out.

Prairie City MX hosts round 1 of the AMA Cross Country series.

However Prairie City MX will be busy. They’ll have Round 1 of the AMA Cross Country Championship. Depending on the weather it could be either a mud fest or the dirt will set up for great racing.

MRANN released its 2024 schedule. Racing begins the first weekend in February.

• MRANN has released its 2024 Schedule and there are nine races are planned for this season. Its subject to change if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

Dakar Rally is still going on in Saudi Arabia.

• Thursday, at 9 a.m. www.mavtv.com has same delayed coverage of the Dakar Rally going on over in Saudi Arabia.

In just a few weeks the AMA Arenacross series visits Reno’s Livestock Events Center.

• On Friday, at 9 a.m., mavtv continues its coverage of the Dakar Rally. Then at 3:30 a.m. the network broadcasts the latest round of the AMA Arenacross series. That series visits Reno’s Livestock Events center the second Saturday in February.

• On Saturday the AMA Supercross series moves north to San Francisco. Peacock has Race Day Live starting at noon then at 5:30 p.m. the network airs the races.

• Sunday, starting at 11 a.m., NBC repeats the Supercross  broadcast from San Francisco.

Then at 6 p.m. CBS Sports Network has the Formula E race from Mexico City. This year the cars are lighter and more powerful.

• The Chili Bowl Nationals are going through Saturday and that event can be seen live on www.floracing.com.
