RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW: APRIL 2 TO 5

RENO, NV (April 1) — Well here we are at the start of April and once again the car meet buffet is full. Not only that but regional racing is getting going as well. 

While maybe not flowers, March showers is bringing Spring green flags.

CAR MEETS:

• Due to the weather, not sure if there is a meet at Kim’s Donut & Tea House Thursday morning. If there is it will start at 8 a.m. and the location is 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville. 

Gardnerville Cars & Coffee meets Thursday night.

But Thursday evening, starting at 6:30 p.m. Gardnerville Cars  & Coffee meets at the Dairy Queen located at 1750 U.S. 395 North in Minden.

It’s another Friday & Saturday even double header for Carson Cars and Coffee.

• Once again Carson Cars & Coffee has a double header with meets starting a 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Location is the Dutch Brothers coffee stand at 1231 South Carson Street in Carson City.

• Saturday has several things happening.

Saturday morning is when Reno SCCA has a Road Rally Trek.
  • RENO SCCA has a Road Rally Trek, cruise actually, and they meet at 8:30 a.m. by the Legends Target. Location is 1550 East Lincoln Way in Sparks.
This weekend Reno Bike Community switched it ride to Saturday morning.
  • Reno Bike Community switched its Friday night ride to Saturday. The meet at 11 a.m. by the Maverik station on the corner of Sutro and North McCarren. Kickstands up at noon and they’ll ride to The Kars & Karts meet,
Kars & Karts happens this Saturday at Need2Speed.
  • NEED2SPEED is having an Easter edition of Kars & Karts. It starts at noon and the location is 2863 Northtowne Lane or the Northtowne shopping area. There will be Easter things as well as a good amount of cars and motorcycles to admire.

  • Since these are so well attended NEED2SPEED put out a map showing where the main show area is as well as the guest parking. These meets are a lot of fun.
Freaks of Nature are having a two part meet on Saturday in Carson City.

– Another Saturday event is the Freaks of Nature KY’s Poker Drag and Car Show. The Poker Drag begins at 9:30 a.m. and rolls out at 11 from the Carson Mall located at 1325 South Carson Street. The car show has a noon start at the Pizza Factory located at 3120 Highway 50 East in Carson City.

• Sunday has a pair of meets.

Reno Jeeps & Coffee has a different meeting place as well as cruise.
  • Reno Jeeps & Coffee meets at 9 a.m. by the Golden Gate gas station at 7770 North Virginia Street. Its west of the Golden Valley exit off 580. At 10:30 they’ll head to Peavine Road for a cruise that takes them to Dog Valley in Cold Springs.

  • Reno Cars & Coffee starting at 10 a.m. meets at the Human Bean Coffee Stand located at 3380 Kietzke Lane. Close to the corner with Moana Lane. This usually has a pretty good turn out.

RACING (4-WHEEL):

Saturday is a test and tune session a Winnemucca Regional Raceway.

• To the east the Winnemucca Regional Raceway has a Test & Tune day on Saturday. Gates open at 9 a.m. with practice from 10 until 4 p.m. There is also a potluck lunch.

Rattlesnake Raceway has a test and tune session starting Saturday afternoon.

• Rattlesnake Raceway has its second Test and Tune session Saturday. The track is located off Highway 50 east of Fallon and there is a 4 p.m. start to the action.

Up in Susanville, Diamond Mountain Speedway has a test and tune session.

• Up north, Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville is having its second Test & Tune session. Not sure of the time however but I’m guessing things start around 10 a.m.

PRACTICE & RACING (MOTOCROSS):

The next race for the MRANN series is this weekend.

• This weekend Moto Movo MC stages the Grave to Glory 100 for the MRANN series. Saturday is when the Pee Wees, Women, Minis, Bombers and Vintage races are held on a short track.

  • Saturday is when the youngest riders race in the Stacyc event. There is also an Easter Egg Hunt and potluck BBQ. There is a sunrise service on Easter Sunday, then at 9:30 the big bikes race.
REP Racing MX has a busy weekend.

• REP Racing MX has a busy weekend. Riverfront MX has Thursday night practice from 5 until 10 p.m. then Friday, at those same times is Mini Night. Practice times at 9 until 2 p.m. on Sunday.

  • Prairie City MX on Saturday, from 9 until 2 p.m., has a DCMX Ride Day. Then at those same times Sunday has open practice.
  • The Sandbox MX from 9 until 2 p.m. has practice on Sunday. Be sure to register online.
The motocross track at Reno-Fernley Raceway has open practice on Saturday.

• Not far away Reno-Fernley Raceway motocross has open practice from 9 until 2 p.m. on Saturday.

E Street MX Park has practice Saturday but is closed for Easter Sunday.

• E Street MX Park, from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday has open practice. The track is close on Easter Sunday.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

Here is NASCAR’s TV schedule for this weekend.

• This week the NASCAR Cup series is off but the trucks and O’Reilly series race at Rockingham. While the truck series is behind a pay wall the other series can be viewed in the CW network.

• Fox Sports 1 at 3 p.m. has Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour.

• Friday there is the track race but other sites might have racing and/or highlights. Some of them are www.mavtv.com, www.dirtvision.com, www.floracing.com, and www.youtube.com for highlights of races.

This Saturday the AMA Supercross series is in St. Louis. Track map courtesy racex.com.

• Saturday is when the AMA Supercross series visits St. Louis and once again the 250 East and West classes face off. Peacock at 10 a.m. has Race Day live, then at 4 p.m. broadcasts Round 12 of the series.
