RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW: APRIL 9 TO 12

RENO, NV (April 8) — While weather might be iffy or not iffy this weekend, there are many car meets, racing at three regional venues not to mention what’s on TV. It’s another bumper crop.

CAR MEETS:

The weekend starts Thursday morning a Kim’s Donut & Tea House.

• Depending on the weather Thursday should start around 8 a.m. at Kim’s Donut & Tea House. Location is 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.

Gardnerville Cars & Coffee meets Thursday evening at the Pizza Factory in Minden.
  • That evening at 6:30 p.m. Gardnerville Cars & Coffee meets at the Pizza Factory. Location is 1758 U.S. 395 North in Minden.
Carson Cars & Coffee meets Friday and Saturday evening at the Dutch Brothers stand on South Carson Street.

• Carson Cars & Coffee has another Friday-Saturday night double-header. The meets start at 6:30 p.m. and the location is the Dutch Brothers Coffee Stand at 1231 South Carson Street in Carson City.

Koyote Kruisers has their 4th annual All Club meet up.

• In addition there are a quartet of othr meets on Saturday. The earliest starts at 8 a.m. when the Koyote Kruisers hosts their 4th annual All Club Meet Up. Location is the Winnemucca Events Center at 1000 Fairgrounds Road.

Fallon Cars & Coffee has their first meet of the year on Saturday.
  • Fallon Cars & Coffee, starting at 8:30 a.m., has their first meet of the year. Location is 2333 Reno Highway or on the Nursery side of the Walmart Parking Lot.
Vintage Euro Cars & Coffee has a new location to meet at.
  • The Vintage Euro Cars & Coffee, starting at 9 a.m., has their first meet of the year. Location is the parking lot to the south of Doughboy’s Donuts at 57 Damonte Ranch Parkway.
There is a new car club meeting in Dayton.
  • Another new group, Fueled by Faith Car Club, has its very first meet starting at noon. Location is the Calvary Chapel Dayton Valley at 28 Enterprise Way. 
Sparks Cars & Coffee meets Sunday morning.

• Sunday is a calm day as Sparks Cars & Coffee has its first meet of the month. Things start at 10 a.m. by the Starbucks at 171 Disc Drive in Sparks.

NNKC is having its annual swap meet Sunday.

– That same day, from 10 until 2 p.m., the Northern Nevada Kart Club is having its annual Go Kart Swap Meet. Location is 1560 Industrial Way in Sparks.

RACING (4-WHEEL):

• There is a lot happening this week in our region.

Club Rowdy has a three-day drifting meet this weekend.
  • At the Reno Fernley Raceway, starting around 7 a.m. each day, Club Rowdy returns. The event runs Friday through Sunday and is the Spring Fling Drift Party.
Rattlesnake Raceway starts the season with a two-day show.
  • Rattlesnake Raceway begins the oval track season with two nights of racing. Friday begins at 7 p.m. while it’s a 6 p.m. start for Saturday’s action and all the classes will be racing.
Rattlesnake Raceway Outlaw Karts race on Saturday.
  • The Rattlesnake Raceway Karts race on Saturday. Gates open at 11 a.m. with a 2 p.m. start to the racing.

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

The WORCS races at the Stead Motocross track this weekend.

• This weekend, starting on Friday the WORCS series visits the Stead MX track for round 4 of their series. Track is on the dirt extension of Lemmon Drive and just over a mile past the go kart track.

• Due to the incoming storm REP Racing didn’t post a weekend schedule so best bet it to check their Face Book page.

The current round of the BBMX series moves to the Sandbox in Fernley.
  • The second round of the Battle Born MX series has been moved to the Sandbox in Fernley, just west of the Veteran’s Cemetery. Saturday is practice and Sunday is race day.
Here are things one needs to know about the BBMX event.
  • They also posted the schedule for both days including when online sign-ups end.
Depending on the weather MMX Racing has a schedule for this weekend.

•MMX Racing posted a schedule but it depends on the weather so be sure to check back on Friday.

Be sure to check their page as they hadn’t posted a schedule when this article was written.

• E Street MX Park is also waiting to see what the incoming weather does. So best advice is to check on Friday.

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

NASCAR schedule for this weekend.

• This weekend NASCAR is at Bristol Motor Speedway and, with the exception of the O’Reilly class, the rest are behind pay walls.

• On Thursday Fox Sports 1, at 3 p.m. has Speed with Harvick & Buxton.

• Friday is a good time to try other outlets although www.youtube.com has highlights of most races.

This week the AMA Supercross series is in Nashville. Map courtesy – AMA Supercross.

• On Saturday at 6 a.m. Peacock has Race Day Live then at noon, along with NBC, broadcasts round 13 of the AMA Supercross series. This week the action is in Nashville.

• On Sunday Fox Sports 1 carries the load staring at 8:30 a.m. when they show the NHRA Qualifying Show #1. Then at noon the network shows the NASCAR Cup race.

The day ends when Fox Sports 1 has the finals of the Lucas Oil Winter Nationals from Pomona, California.

That’s it for this weekend. Might be a cool one so be sure to dress for the weather. If possible try to attend a race or car meet as you’ll meet some wonderful people.

OTHER RACING NEWS

Note about the Virginia Grand Prix.

• For those racing in the Virginia City Grand Prix remember course marking has started. So the surrounding terrain is off limits to racers.

Now is the time to register for the Stadium GP.

• Sign up s are open for this year’s Stadium GP as they are only going to accept online signups. To register please go to www.stadiumgp.com.

This year’s Summer Salute car show needs volunteers.

• Nevada Car Coalition is still looking for volunteers to help with the Summer Salute Car Show.
