RENO, NV (April 10) — Great weather set the stage for three local car events. It was the same for the meets and a cruise in other areas.
• Over in Sparks on Saturday there was the Caffeine & Gasoline meet sponsored by Shifted Performance and the Goodnuffstuff Car Club.

Both sides of the street where Shifted Performance is located were lined with cars and trucks.

In fact there were a bunch of cars lined up in front of the business. There also was coffee and, for the early birds, donuts.
In front of the building 13-year-old Levi Annas was autographing cards. He’s an up and coming local racer and in 2025 was an Outlaw Kart Champion at Rattlesnake Raceway.

Asked about last season when he won the Street Stock championship at Lovelock Speedway, he said, “There was a lot of challenging stuff like being a rookie and just getting experience racing people that have experience. There were a lot of ups and downs like hitting the wall one weekend to winning the Dirt Track Championship at Rattlesnake. Getting Rookie of the Year and the Street Stock Championship at Lovelock, that was cool. I love both Lovelock and Rattlesnake.
“This year we’ll be able to go to Elko, Susanville and a couple of other tracks. I drive a 1978 Camaro, this year we got a brand new sponsor, Goodnuffstuffcc, they are car show people down in Reno. Icon pistons are one of my main sponsors and they got us free pistons last year an 3G Motorsports and Vinyl they are always at the track to do my stickers and stuff.”

Look at the longest row of cars there was a Roadster parked next to the 1950’s vintage GM pickup.

Not far away were two classis GM products. One was a blue Chevy pickup and right next to it was a classic Oldsmobile.
• Sunday morning Reno Cars & Coffee held its second meet of the month. As usual it was by the Human Bean Coffee Stand near the corner of Keitzke and Moana Lanes.

Once again good weather blessed the event. As a result there was a good turn out and a large group of spectators.

As expected there were several Corvettes. One of them was parked next to a Bentley convertible.

Not far away was another classic convertible. This was a Ford Galaxie 500 and drew its share of admirers.
Further up that row was a very different car, a Suzuki ALTO with right hand drive.

When asked about it owner Matt Anderson said, “It’s a 1996 Suzuki Altoworks, a friend of mine imported it in from Japan in Florida. He brought it up here from Florida when he was working with me and decided he wanted get something else so I bought it from him.

“It’s a 606 cc, turbocharged engine, all wheel drive, 5-speed manual. The blinkers are on the right side of the wheel, wipers are on the left side of the wheel so if you switch back to a normal American you’re always turning on the wipers.”
Asked how it drives he said, “I’ve had it to 120 Kilometers going down the highway before I caught up with people. Up to 78 miles an hour or something like that. It’s a blast to drive and being all wheel drive in the snow and everything.”

Another car on display was a 1920’ or 30’s sedan. It’s a great restoration and even has a rumble seat in the back.

Not far away was a vintage VW Beetle. This one even has a front windshield that tilts up so its kind of like air conditioning on a hot day.
REPORTER’S NOTE: Ed Hughes was there and he takes great individual pictures. So do check the Reno Cars & Coffee page where he posts them.

• Sunday was the first round of the Museum Cup Series Show N’ Shine at the National Automobile Museum.

The Reno Corvette Club had entries and a long row of their cars that extended for most of the gallery.

The other group was the Iron Mafia and they had several cars as well. One of them was a yellow 1965 Chevy Nova parked next to a Old Cutlass Convertible.

The pictures of the winners are on the Nevada Car Coalition Face Book page.
Next week Sunday’s meet will be with Sparks Cars & Coffee as well as with other groups.

• This Tuesday, starting at 6:30, Trucks & Tacos of Northern Nevada meets at San Marcos Grill. Location is 260 E. Winnie in Cason City.

• Depending on the weather PJ&CO has Bike Night on Wednesdays. Usually begins around 5 but no matter what the weather is you can get great meals and drinks there.
