RENO, NV (May 27) — Last weekend in May and racing as well as car meets and rides are heating up. The buffet table is overflowing.
CAR MEETS:
• There a pair events listed for Thursday. Be aware our crazy weather might affect these.

- There is a Lowrider Cruise Night in Sparks on Thursday. Time is 5 until 8 p.m. and the location is Tacos Tijuana at 2201 Prater Way in Sparks.

- The Thursday Cruznite, from 4 until 7 p.m., goes to Chilcoot Frosty & Goodwins General Store. There are dash plaques, music and trophies. From Reno go north on 395 then turn left at Highway 70, go over the hill and its on your right.

• This week’s Thursday cruise in Carson City starts at the Antique Mall on North Carson Street.
• Friday has a trio of meets on tap for cars as well as motorcycles.

- Reno Bike Community has its weekly ride and the meeting place is the Maverik station at Sutro and North McCarran. Riders start to gather around 6 p.m. with kickstands up at 7 p.m.

– The Old Slammers, a VW group meets at 6 p.m. in the Northtowne Parking lot. Around 7 the group leaves on a cruise.

– Carson Cars & Coffee has meets, starting at 6:30 Friday and Saturday evenings. Location is the Dutch Brothers Coffee Stand at 1231 South Carson Street.
• Saturday has several car meets to choose from.

- Cars & Donuts hosts the 3rd annual Spring Kick Off. Starts at 8:30 a.m. and the location is Battle Born Harley Davidson in Carson City.

- The Reno Mustang Club is having the Mustang-Shelby Classic Show starting at 10 a.m. Saturday. Location is Rancho Harrah’s in Reno.

- The first Dust & Shine Showcase starts at 10 a.m. Location is the Driven Off-Road Grand Opening at 90 West Main Street in Fernley.

- At 6 p.m. Reno Cars & Classics meets at Sonic. Location is 6250 South Virginia Street by the 5 Minute Oil Change.

- Starting at noon the Raider Nation hosts the 2nd annual Blackout BBQ & Car Show. Starts at noon and the location is 1939 Prater Way at La Gente Chicano Wear in Sparks.

• The big show Sunday, from 10 until noon is the Classic Cruise In hosted by the Northern Nevada Classics. Location is the Northern Nevada State Veteran’s Home at 36 Battle Born Way in Sparks. Many of these veterans are unable to see the car meets so this is a great time to let them admire your car.
RACING (4-WHEEL):

• Lovelock Speedway is having races Friday and Saturday. Gates usually open around 5 and racing starts around 6 p.m.

– To the east Summit Raceway in Elko is having the second and third race of its season. Gates open art 5 p.m. with racing beginning at 7 p.m.
RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

• The Sandbox MX in Fernley is still closed. They’ve been having problems getting enough staff to run the track safely.

• Not far away the Reno-Fernley Raceway has practice from 9 until 2 on Sunday. Both the main and kid’s tracks will be used.

• To the east, Hillside Motor Sports is hosting Round 3 of the Prospector Series, the only race in Nevada. The location is the Elko Motocross track.

• Over the hill REP Racing MX has practice sessions at Riverfront. Thursday is for big bikes, Friday for Minis only and Sunday is open practice.

• E-Street MX Park has a busy weekend as they host the final round of the BBMX Spring Series. Friday is for practice while racing happens Saturday and Sunday.

• MMX Racing has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday on the Main, Sand and Kid’s tracks. Sunday’s practice is from 9 until 3 and the Vintage track is added to the mix.
RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

• Once again NASCAR, with one exception, has put itself behind a pay wall. This week the series visits Music City or Nashville.
• Thursday at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour followed at 3:30 by Speed.
• Friday at noon Fox Sports 2 has the first Indy Car practice from Detroit then at 4 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NHRA Qualifying show #1 from the Potomac Nationals in Maryland.
- At 1:45 Peacock has IMSA Weather Tech Sports Qualifying from Detroit.
• Saturday has an early start 5:55 a.m. when Fox Sports has MotoGP Sprint from Mugello.
- At 6 a.m. Fox Sports 1 has the second Indy Car practice from Detroit and at 10 a.m. the qualifying session.

- At 10 a.m. Peacok has Raceday Live then at 1 p.m. airs the first round of the AMA Pro Motocross series. This is at Fox Raceway in Pala, California.
- NBC and Peacock at 1 p.m. will air the IMSA Weather Tech Sports Car race from Detroit. Then at 4 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NHRA qualifying show #2 from Maryland International Raceway.
• Sunday starts early at 5:55 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 has the MotoGP race from Mugello. Then at 6 a.m. ESPN airs the Monaco Grand Prix where Formula 1 cars race on a classic street course.

- Fox, at 9:30 airs the Streets of Detroit Indy Car Race. Another event where drivers race between walls and need to be inch perfect.
- Then at noon Fox Sports 1 airs the final rounds of the NHRA Potomac Nationals. The weekend ends when Prime broadcasts the NASCAR Cup race from Nashville.
That’s it for this weekend, thankfully the weather will start warming up again. If possible get out and see either a race, car meet or cruise. No matter what you choose you’ll meet some great people.
