RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW: JUNE 25 TO 29

RENO, NV (June 24) — Summer is officially here and racing is going full bore. There will be something for almost everybody this weekend.

CAR MEETS:

• Thursday.

Kim’s Cruisers meet Thursday morning and get the weekend rolling.

– Kim’s Donut and Tea House in Gardnerville, starting at 8 a.m., is where the weekend starts. Location is 1328 U.S. 395 North.

This Thursday evening is the next Lowrider Cruise Night.

– This Thursday is Lowrider Cruise Night at Tacos Tijuana. Times are 5 to 8 p.m. and the location is 2201 Prater Way in Sparks.

Down in Carson City there is another Thursday Night cruise.

– This week’s Thursday Night Cruise, from 5 until 7, meets at the Pizza Factory. Location is Highway 50 East in Carson City.

Once again there will be another Cruznite to ice cream at Chiloot Frosty.

– Like Ice Cream? Well its time for the Thursday Cruznite. Starts around 4 p.m. and the location is the Chilcoot Frosty and Goodwins General Store. Take 395 north out of Reno, turn left onto Highway 70, go over the hill and look for the Frenchman’s Lake turn off.

• Friday has three events:

Carson Cars & Coffee has a meet Friday starting at 6:30.
  • Down south Carson Cars & Coffee has a meets that starts at 6:30 by the Dutch Bros Coffee stand. Location is 1231 Carson Street.
Friday is when the Reno Bike Community have their weekly ride.
  • The Reno Bike Community has a ride and the meeting place is by the Maverik station at the corner of Sutro and North McCarran. Meet up starts at 6 p.m. then at 7 p.m. its kickstands up.
Old Slammers of Reno meet at Northtowne.
  • Old Slammers of Reno also have a meet at the Northtowne parking lot. Folks start to gather around 7 p.m. and the cruise begins later.

• Saturday is a very busy day with a lot to choose from. 

Cars & Coffee gets Saturday rolling with a meet at Incline Village.
  • Cars and Coffee has an 8 a.m. start to its meet. Location is 907 Tahoe Blvd., in Incline Village.
For you riders out there Twisty M has a poker run starting in Truckee on Saturday.
  • If you are a rider Twisty M is hosting the 6th annual Motorcycle Poker Run. Sign in from 9 until 11 at El Toro Bravo in Truckee.
Rustoration Garage has a meet on Saturday at the fairgrounds.
  • Rustoration Garage in Fallon is hosting a car and bike show as part of the De Golyer Bucking Horse an Bull Bash. Starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Churchill Fairgrounds located at 325 Sheckler Road.
Karson Kruzers is hosting a big meet at Mills Park in Carson City.
  • Karson Kruzers are hosting the 39th annual Run What You Brung show. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and location is Mills Park in Carson City.
Northern Nevada Muscle is having a Truckee/Mt.Rose Loop Cruise on Saturday.
  • Northern Nevada Muscle is having at Truckee/Mt. Rose Loop Cruise. Meet up at noon by the Century Summit movie theater at the Summit Mall on 13965 South Virginia.
Pizza Baron is having a cruise Saturday evening.
  • Saturday, from 6 until 9 p.m., is Pizza Baron Saturday Cruise Night. All makes and models are welcome and location is 1155 West 4th Street, #113 in Reno.
It’s an all female drivers and riders meet at Sierra Pink.
  • Sierra Pink, from 6 until 9, is hosting a Ladies Night Car Meet. While all makes of cars and bikes are welcome its for Lady drivers and riders only. Location is 1201 Kietzke Lane in Reno.
Reno Cars & Classics meets at the Sonic on South Virginia.
  • Reno Cars & Classics, from 6 until 9 p.m., is having another car show at Sonic. Location is next to the 5 Minute oil change on South Virginia Street.
Carson Cars & Coffee has a meet Saturday evening.

• Carson Cars & Coffee, starting at 6:30, has another meet at the Dutch Bros Coffee Stand at the south end of Carson City.

• Sunday has three events:

Sparks Cars & Coffee meets Sunday morning.
  • Sparks Cars and Coffee meets, starting at 10 a.m. by the Starbucks located on Disk Drive. Go north on Pyramid, past North McCarran, over the hill and turn right at the first light.
Next round of the Museum Cup is Sunday and Vdub will have their vehicles on display.
  • For you VW fans the National Automobile Museum is hosting the next round of its Museum Cup Series Show N’ Shine. Starts around 10 a.m. and this time Vdub members will have their vehicles on display. While it’s been sold out there will be a lot to see inside.
Sunday winds down with the Modelo Cruise.
  • The day ends with Modelo Sunday’s Cruise In, Kick Back and Sip. Times are 5 until 9 p.m. and location is 195 West Plumb Lane in Reno.

• This week Monday has two events. 

There s a Pizzava Classic Nights meet on Monday.
  • Northern Nevada Classics is hosting Pizzava Classic Nights with Pizza, Cars, Music and fun. Times are 5 to 7 at 670 East Prater Way in Sparks.
For the riders, Monday evening Rolling Freedom in South Lake Tahoe is hosting a ride.

– For the riders out there starting at 5 p.m. there is the South Lake Loop. Location is the Rolling Freedom Shop at 152 U.S. Highway 50, Ste #1 at Stateline, Nevada.

RACING (4-WHEEL):

Reno SCCA is hosting the next two rounds of its Solo series this weekend.

• This Saturday and Sunday the SCCA has its next Solo Rounds. They usually start early in the morning at the Regional Public Safety Training Center. For more information go to, www.renoscca.org.

There is racing Friday and Saturday at Summit Raceway in Elko.

• This weekend Summit Raceway in Elko has two nights of racing. Both cars and Outlaw Karts will be racing and  the cars start at 7 p.m.

Legacy Racing Association is hosting their Baja Nevada event with racing Friday and Saturday.

• To the south Legacy racing is hosting its two-day Baja Nevada event. All the classes race Friday and Saturday with the awards handed out Sunday in Tonopah.

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS)

REP Racing is only using one of its tracks this weekend.

• This weekend REP Racing MX is only using PC MX. Saturday is DCMX Ride Days then it’s open practice on Sunday. Sadly the Sandbox in Fernley is still closed.

E Street MX Park has practice Saturday and Sunday.

• E Street MX Park has open practice from 8 until 1 p.m. on the front and back tracks.

• MMX Racing has a busy weekend. It starts when the track hosts Round 1 of the Friday Night Under the Lights series.

MMX Racing has a busy three-day weekend.
  • Saturday practice is from 8 until 1 using the Main, Sand & Kids tracks. Sunday’s practice is from 8 until 2 p.m. and the Vintage track is added to the mix.
Still time to pre-register for Friday’s Under the Lights event.

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

NASCAR is at Sonoma Raceway this weekend and here is the TV schedule.

• This weekend NASCAR travels west to Sonoma Raceway that originally was Sears Point and is outside of Sonoma. The races are behind pay walls but highlights can be viewed on www.youtube.com.

• Thursday at 7:30 a.m., Apple TV has F1 Weekend Warm-Up from Austria. Then at 7:30 p.m. Racer has 2026 World Rally Championship Highlights from the Acropolis.

– Then at 9 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Speed followed at 9:30 it’s Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour.

• Friday starts at 4:10 a.m. when Apple TV has Formula 1 practice #1 then at 7:30 airs practice #2.

– Starting at 10:50 a.m. IMSA.TV and Peacock airs the Mustang Challenge, follow by the Porsche Carrera Cup and Lamborghini Super Trofeo race from Watkins Glen.

 • Saturday begins early at 3:10 a.m. when Apple TV airs Formula 1 practice #3 from Austria then at 6:25 shows Formula 1 qualifying,

  • IMSA TV an Peacock starting at 4:55 a.m. airs the second Mustang Challenge, the second Porsche Carrera Cup, Michelin Pilot Challenge and the second Lamborghini Super Trofeo race. At 12:30 p.m. the network have IMSA Weather Tech Sports Car qualifying from Watkins Glen.
  • Fox Sports 2, at 3:30 p.m. on a delayed basis, has MotoGP Sprint from Assen.

• Sunday begins at 4:30 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 airs the MotoGP race from Assen,

  • Apple TV comes on at 4:50 a.m. with the Formula 1 race from Austria.
NHRA is in Norwalk, Ohio this weekend. Photo courtesy – NHRA.
  • The NHRA is in Ohio at the Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. Fox Sports 1 has the event starting at 8 a.m. with the All-Star Callout, then at 9 a.m. Qualifying Show #1 and finally at 2:30 p.m. with the final rounds.

That’s it for this weekend. Should be good weather but a bit cooler this time around. Be sure to get out to a race or car meet as you will meet some great people at every event,
