CAR, AIRPLANE & RACING MEETS: AUG 27 TO 31

RENO, NV (Aug. 27) — We end August with another flurry of car meets with some racing thrown in. Will be cooler with the possibility of rain Thursday night and Friday and Sunday is a slow day.

CAR MEETS:

The weekend starts early at Kim’s Donut and Teahouse.

•• Thursday is when things get started around 8 a.m. at Kim’s Donut and Tea House. Location is 1328 U.S. Highway 395 North in Gardnerville.

Only three more Thursday Crznites are left.
  • Only three more Thursday Cruznite’s left. Chilcoot Frosty and Goodwins General Store are on Highway 70 at the Frenchman’s Lake turnoff.
It’s the final Thursday Night Cruise in Carson City.
  • This week is the final Thursday Night Cruise in Carson City. Runs from 5 until 7 p.m. and the meeting place is the Empire Ranch Golf Course.
It’s Thursday Night Thunder at Pinocchio’s Bar & Grill this week.
  • Thursday Night Thunder is Bike Night at Pinocchio’s Bar & Grill. Starts at 6 p.m. and runs through October.

•• Friday might be a bit different due to the rain expected.

If the rain doesn’t spoil it the National Automobile Museum is hosting a concert and showing Grease at the Sparks Drive In.
  • The National Automobile Museum has an evening of entertainment planned at the El Rancho Drive-In at Sparks. If its not raining there is a live concert follow by them showing the Movie Grease. Be sure to check first with the Museum’s website to make sure it’s happening.
With rain expected the Reno Bike Community canceled it Friday night cruise.
  • Due to the weather and expected rain, the Reno Bike Community canceled its Friday night ride. They hope to see everyone next week
Depending on the weather the Old Slammers will have a cruise on Friday.
  • Over at the Northtowne Parking area the Old Slammers will gather, if the weather allows it for their weekly cruise. That usually begins a bit after 7 p.m. but once again be sure to check their Face Book page.
  • Carson Cars & Coffee won’t have meets this weeked..

•• Saturday will be a busy day with several meets and one that has airplanes.

Northern Nevada Muscle heads for a South Lake Tahoe Cruise.

– The day starts when Northern Nevada Muscle meets at Regan Beach. That’s where they will start the South Lake Tahoe Cruise 

Nevada Motorcycle Riders have a long cruise ahead of them.
  • Around 9:30, at the Bully’s on McCarran Nevada Motorcycle Riders take off for their ride. Going to be a long one as they’ll cover a lot of ground.
Gardnerville Cars & Coffee has a meet at Kim’s Donuts.
  • Down south Gardnerville Cars & Coffee has a meet at Kim’s Donuts. Starts 10 a.m. and the location is 331 US-395 North in Gardnerville
Car Dusty or needs cleaning from all the fires? Well these ladies will take care of that.
  • So if your car got covered with dust from the recent fires the Reno Vaqueros will take care of you. They are having a Bikini Car wash that starts at noon and the location is Palomino’s Rims & Tires at 1505 Glendale Ave. in Sparks.
Here’s a very different meet. Aieplanes, cars and later swing dancing in a hanger.
  • Up at the Reno/Stead Airport there is a historic Biplane and Car Event. Runs from 3 until 6 p.m. and is followed by a Hanger Dave. Use the Texas Avenue Street to access it.
Reno Cars & Classics is having another meet at the Sonic on South Virginia.
  • Reno Cars & Classics is having another car meet. Locaion is at Sonic, next to the 5 Minute Oil Change on Virginia Street.
The final Pizza Baron Cruise of the night happens this week.
  • That same night, starting at 6 p.m. is the Pizza Baron Sumer Finale. Starts at 6 p.m. and the location is 1155 West 4th Street in Reno.

•• Sunday is pretty light this week. Many times the Cars & Coffee groups don’t meet on the fifth Sunday of the month

Galena Cheer is having a car wish to help school districts athletes that were affected by the fire.
  • If you live in south Reno and would like to help WCSD athletes impacted by the recent fires, the Galena Cheer has having a  Car Wish to raise money. Starts at 10 a.m. and the location is at the 7-11 on Arrow Creek and South Virginia.
Sunday afternoon Summit Racing is having it’s final Cruise In of the year.
  • That afternoon, starting around 1 p.m., Summit Racing Equipment is having another cruise in. Located on East Glendale and this apparently is the final one for the year.
This is a great way to unwind from the weekend.
  • If you want to unwind from the weekend try the Modelo Sunday’s Cruise In and Sip. Starts at 5 p.m. and the location is 195 West Plumb in Reno.
Monday evening is the final cruise in

• Monday is the final Pissave Cruise in. There will be music and prizes.

•• RACING IN NEVADA.

Due to family heath issues the promotors have ended that season.
  • Sadly Bergland Racing Promotions announced that due the medical condition of one of them is dealing with they are ending the season at Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville. We wish that family member well.
Winnemucca Regional Raceway races on Friday and Saturday.
  • To the east Winnemucca Regional Raceway has racing this Friday and Saturday night. Gates open around 5 and racing starts at 7 p.m. both nights.

•• RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

REP has a busy weekend.
  • Riverfront MX has Thursday night practice from 5 until 10 p.m. and on Friday, from 5 until 10 p.m. its Race Practice. Then Sunday, from 8 until 1 is DCMX Ride Day
REP Racing hosts the next round of the Saturday Night Series.
  • Sunday is race day. Gates open at noon, practice at 4 p.m. with round 2 of the Saturday Night Series to follow.
MMX Racing has practice this weekend
  • MMX Racing has practice from 8 until 1 on Friday on the Sand and Kid’s tracks. Then Saturday practice is from 8 until 1 and Sunday from8 until 2 on those tracks. This weekend the Vintage track is not used.
E Street MX Park has a busy practice schedule..

•• E Street MX Park has practice from 8 until 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

Here is this week’s Indy Car schedule and were you can see them.

•• Going to start with the Indy Car schedule. This week they race a Saturday-Sunday on the Milwaukee Mile, a track older than Indianapolis.

Here is NASCAR’s schedule and where you can see them.

•• Here is NASCAR’s TV schedule for this weekend. With the exception of ARCA Racing all the action is at Daytona. Thankfully the Cup race is on broadcast TV.

•• Thursday is full of repeats except at 7:30 p.m. when Fox Sports 1 has Speed with Harvick and Buxton.

•• Friday is also full of repeats until 10:30 am. when www.youtube.com has the first moto for the WMX series.

AMA Pro Motocross is at Ironman Raceway in Crawrordsville.

•• On Saturday the AMA Pro Motocross series ends the Out Door part of the season. They are at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Peacock has Race Day live at 7 a.m. and at 10 a.m. airs the racing.

  • Fox Sports 1 at 9 a.m. has the MotoGP Sprint race from Aragon. 
Indy Car has a double header this weekend.

•• Sunday at 4:30 a.m. Fox Sports has the MotoGP main event from Aragon.  Then at 10 a.m. Fox brings the weekend to a close when they broadcast the second Indy Car race.
