RENO, NV (Sept. 16): Mild weather as we roll into mid September and welcome the first day of fall next week. Still there are races as oval tracks end their seasons and many car meets not to mention what’s on TV.
CAR MEETS:
• Thursday has three things:
- The day starts around 8 a.m. when Kim’s Cruisers meet at Kim’s Donut & Tea House. Location is 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville.
- Koyota Kruisers is hosting it final Kruse Nights this year. Starts at 5 p.m. and starts and ends at Dotty’s Casino in Winnemucca. Awards are handed out between 7:30 and 8 p.m. that night at Dotty’s.
- Pinocchio’s Bar & Grill, starting at 6 p.m. has another Thursday Night Thunder. All bikes are welcome and benefits Mom’s On The Run – Ride For The Tatas.
• Friday also has four events:
- The Reno Bike Community gathers at the Maverik, located at the corner of Sutro and North McCarran around 6:30 in the evening. Around 7 p.m. it’s kickstands up for the weekly ride.
- Not far away, in the Northtowne Parking Area the Old Slammers of Reno will gather for their cruise. Most start showing up around 6:30 and around 7 the cruise begins.
- It’s the year’s final Lowrider Cruise Night at El Original Tacos Tijuana. Starts at 5 p.m. and location is 2201 Prater Way in Sparks.
- To the south Carson Cars & Coffee are hosting Friday Night Dutch. Starts at 6:30 p.m. and the location is Dutch Bros. Coffee at 1231 South Carson Street.
• Saturday has a bunch of events:
- Out in Fallon, starting at 8 a.m. the Agape Church School is having a fund-raiser Car Show. Location is at 227 Sheckler Road the Rafter 3C Arena, which is part of the Fair Grounds.
- To the south Gardnerville Cars & Coffee, starting at 10 a.m., is having their weekly meet. Location is Kim’s Donuts at 1331 US-395 North in Gardnerville.
- Northern Nevada Muscle meets for Beth’s Frenchman Lake Birthday Cruise. Meet up at 10 a.m. at the Red Rock Café located at 210 Silver Lake Road in Reno.
- This weekend the Dayton Valley Days Car Show-N-Shine meets. Show begins at 9 a.m., trophies are presented at 2 p.m. and the location is in the historic part off Highway 50.
- Battle Born Harley, in Carson City is having a Bike Night. Starts at 4:30 p.m. and there is music as well as an adventure bike show.
- At 6:30 p.m. Carson Cars & Coffee has its Saturday Night Dutch. Location is at Dutch Bros Coffee by the Carson Mall.
• Sunday has six meets this week:
- Pinocchio’s Bar & Grill in Sparks is hosting the 15th annual Ride for the Tatas. It’s both a ride and poker run that starts at 9 a.m. and concludes at the Sparks location.
- Reno Jeeps & Coffee, starting at 10 a.m., meets at the Human Bean located on the corner of Longley Land and South McCarran.
- Not far away Reno Cars & Coffee also meets at 10 a.m. for their second show of the month. Location is by the Human Bean Coffee near the corner of Moana and Kietzke Lane.
- The next round of the Museum Cup Series is Sunday at the National Automobile Museum. Hours on Sunday are 10 to 4 p.m. and the winner goes into the final on October 4th.
- That evening, starting at 6:30, Carson Cars & Coffee hosts is Sunday Dutch Bike Night. Location is the Dutch Bros. Coffee at 1231 South Carson Street.
- Want to unwind on Sunday evening? If so check out Modelo Sunday Cruise In Kickback. Starts at 5 p.m. and the location is 195 West Plumb in Reno.
RACING (4-WHEEL):
• To the east Winnemucca Regional Raceway is hosting racing on Friday and Saturday evenings. I believe things get going around 6 each night.
• Further east, south of Ely, the Silver Classic Challenge takes place this weekend. It’s the only open road race in the country and competitors try to finish as close to the time as they chose. Much of the run is flat out.
• Due to the recent fires the Northern Nevada Kart Club had to postpone its annual night race. So they are ending the 2026 season with a double header.
Practice begins at 9 a.m., heats should start at 10:15 then, after lunch racing gets going at 12:45 and trophies are slated to be handed out at 3:30. Remember the times aren’t set in stone.
Round 5 is on Saturday while Round 6 is one Sunday. They will be using Track 3.
RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):
• REP Racing MX has a busy schedule this weekend. Riverfront MX has practice Thursday, Friday and Sunday. PC MX has practice both Saturday and Sunday.
Good news the Sandbox MX in Fernley is back. The Saturday Stadium GP Ride day is for members only but Sunday is open practice.
• Over the hill E-Street MX Park is having the OTHG Sierra Annual 2 Stroke Race. The both days are a little different they race though the weekend.
• MMX Racing has practice from 9 until 2 Friday on the Sand and Kids tracks then Saturday the Main is added. Sunday is from 9 until 3 p.m. and the Vintage track is for an OSMX Ride Day.
RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):
• Thursday is full of repeats but at 8 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Speed then at 8:30 they air Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour.
– As usual NASCAR events are behind a pay wall so here is their broadcast schedule. After a race is over one can see highlights on www.youtube.com.
• Friday is pretty slim but at 1:30 p.m. TruTV has NASCAR cup practice and qualifying.
• Things get busy on Saturday as Fox Sports 1 starts the day at 5:55 a.m. when they show MotoGP Sprint from Austria.
– At 10 a.m. Peacock has Race Day Live from Round 2 of the Super Motocross Championship. This time it’s in Los Angeles and the race begins at 4 p.m.
– All during the day www.imsa.tv is airing races from Indianapolis and at 2 p.m. they show qualifying for the IMSA Weather Tech Sports Car series. Then at 4:30 the USA network airs the NASCAR Cup race from Bristol, which is usually an action packed race.
• Sunday starts at 4:30 a.m. when Fox Sports Live has MotoGP from Austria.

- Fox Sports 1 at 9 a.m. has NHRA Qualifying from Michigan then at 11 a.m. the finals for the Great Lakes Nationals held at US 131 Motorsports Park.
- Starting at noon both NBC and Peacock broadcast the IMSA Weather Tech Sports Car race from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. They will be on the road course.
