RENO, NV (Sept. 30) — As we head into October days are getting shorter and tracks are shutting down for the winter. Still, there are car meets as well as racing to see, both live and on TV as well as the Internet.
CAR MEETS:

•• Thursday, as usual, starts around 8 a.m. at Kim’s Donut and Tea House. Location is 1328 U.S. Highway395 North in Gardnerville.

- Pinocchio’s Bar & Grill are still having Thursday Night Thunder. It’s a time to show off your bike and enjoy Bike Night. Starts at 6:30 p.m. at 5995 South Virginia Street in Reno.
•• There are two cruises and one car meet scheduled for Friday.

- Reno Bike Community only has three more Friday Night Cruises planned. This week’s starts at the Maverik located at the corner of Sutro and North McCarran. Gather around 6:30 and around 7 its kickstands up.

- Over at the Northtowne parking area Old Slammers of Reno start to gather around 6:30 and sometime after 7 leave for their weekly cruise.

- To the south Carson Cars & Coffee has Friday Night Dutch starting around 6:30 by the Dutch Bros Coffee stand. Location is 1231 South Carson Street.

•• Saturday starts at 8 a.m. when the Reno Mustang Car Club hosts The All Fords Show. All models are welcome and the show begins at 8 a.m. then at 2 p.m. awards are handed out. Location is Bonanza Casino in North Virginia Street.

- To the south Gardnerville Cars & Coffee, starting at 10 a.m., has its weekly meet. Location is Kim’s Donuts at 1331 US-395 North in Gardnerville.

- Up at Lake Tahoe the Brotherhood MC Sierra Cal hosts the 36th annual Tahoe Roy Run. The run starts at noon, location is Steamers Bar and Grill at 2236 Lake Tahoe Blvd., in South Lake Tahoe, California. Before this happens people can leave unwrapped toys at Battle Born Harley-Davidson in Carson City.

- Nevada Jeep, starting at 2 p.m., is having a meet up and ducking. Location is 1075 North Hills Blvd., Suite 220, in Reno. They’ll be selling hand painted rubber ducks to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.

- Carson Cars & Coffee ends the day with Saturday Night Dutch. Starts at 6:30 p.m. by the Dutch Bros Coffee stand at the south end of Carson City.
•• Sunday is a busy day with six things going on.

- The day starts at 7 a.m. when Northern Nevada Classics has its second Swap Meet with craft and antique vendors. Location is the west parking lot at Baldini’s Casino, 865 South Rock Blvd. in Sparks.

- Then at 9 a.m. Reno Jeeps & Coffee meets at the Golden Gate Station at 7770 North Virginia Street. The will do the Peavine Fire Scouting cruise.

- Reno Cars & Coffee meets at 10 a.m. to get the month started. Location is by the Dutch Bros. Coffee at 3380 Kietzke Lane close to the corner with Moana Lane.

- That afternoon is the final Museum Cup Series meet where the winner will have their name on the Cup. Hours for the National Automobile Museum are 10 to 4 p.m. and the final award will be handed out around closing time.

- To the south Carson Cars & Coffee hosts Sunday Dutch Bike Night. Starts at 6:30 p.m. by the Dutch Bros Coffee stand next to the Carson Mall.

- Finally if one wants to unwind from the weekend they need to attend Modelo Sunday’s Cruise In and Kickback. Starts at 5 p.m. and the location is 195 West Plumb Lane in Reno.
RACING (4-WHEEL):
• Two Northern Nevada oval tracks, at opposite sides of the state are in action this weekend.

- To the east Summit Raceway, by Elko is ended its season with the Race of Champions. Pits open at 3 p.m., gates at 5 p.m. with the green flag waving at 7 p.m.

- Rattlesnake Raceway, located just east of downtown Fallon, ends its season with the 40th annual Dirt Track Championships. Six classes will be in action both nights. Friday racing starts at 7 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday. It’s usually an action packed two nights of racing.
RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCYCLES):

•• This week MRANN begins its fall desert races. Cheater’s MC is hosting the event at Blue Wing Flat. Saturday is when the Big Bikes race followed by the youngest riders on Stacys. Sunday is when the Pee Wees, Minis, V Women and Bombers race on a short course.

- REP Racing MX has a busy weekend. Riverfront MX has practice sessions Thursday, Friday and Sunday. PC MX has DCMX Ride Days from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday then open practice Sunday at those same times.

- The Sandbox MX in Fernley will have practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

- E-Street MX Park hosts the latest round of the Battle Born fall series. Saturday is for practice while Sunday is race Day.

- MMX Racing has practice from 9 until 2 Saturday on the Main and Kid’s tracks while, from 8 until 1, the Sand and Vintage tracks are for a private SOT Ride Day. Sunday, from 9 until 3 p.m. there is practice on the Vintage, Main, Sand and Kid’s tracks.
RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL)

• Once again NASCAR has put this week’s racing behind pay walls. Of course one can see the highlights after the races on www.youtube.com. It’s a big weekend in Las Vegas.
• All during the weekend the IMSA series is ending its season at Road Atlanta. They will have various supporting races starting Thursday at 10:05 a.m. on Peacock or www.IMSA.TV.
• Fox Sports 1 starting at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday has Speed followed by Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour.
- At 9:10 p.m. Apple TV has the first Formula 1 practice from Malaysia.
• Friday starts early at 12:40 a.m. when Apple TV airs the second Formula 1 practice from Malaysia.
- Peacock, IMSA.TV and You Tube have several more races from Road Atlanta. Then at 11:15 they will air the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Qualifying for the Petit Le Mans race.
- Fox Sports 1 comes on at 3:30 p.m. with Qualifying Show #1 from the NHRA Midwest Nationals.
- At 9:10 p.m. AppleTV has the third Formula 1 practice from Malaysia. Then at 11:55 Fox Sports has MotoGP Sprint from Motegi, Japan.
• Saturday begins at 12:25 a.m. when Apple TV carries Formula 1 qualifying from Malaysia.

- Then, starting at 9 a.m., NBC, Peacock and NBCSN combine forces to broadcast the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Petit LeMans. This 12-hour race ends the season.

- Then at that same time AppleTV broadcasts the Formula 1 race from Malaysia.
• Sunday is a light day starting at 8 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 has Qualifying Show #2 from the NHRA event.

- Fox comes on at 11 a.m. with the finals from the NHRA Mid-West Nationals. World Wide Technology Raceway is at Madison.
- Finally USA Network ends the weekend when it airs the NASCAR Cup race from Las Vegas.
That’s it for this weekend. Looks like the weather will be great so, if possible attend a race, there is nothing like seeing the action live.
