RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW: AUG. 7 TO 10

RENO, NV (Aug. 7) — Hot August Nights has hit its full stride and goes through the weekend. There are also car events as well as racing to fill the schedule.

CAR MEETS:

Carson Cars & Coffee meets at Dutch Brothers on Friday evening.

• Friday, starting at 7 p.m., Carson Cars & Coffee will meet at the Dutch Brothers coffee stand. It’s located by the Carson Mall.

Impalas Car Club has a Friday evening meet at Legends Bay Casino
  • That same day the Impalas Car Club is having a Show ‘N Shine. Times are 2 to p.m. and the location is at the Legends Bay Casino in Sparks.
Fallon Cars & Coffee meets Saturday morning.

• Saturday begins at 8:30 a.m. when Fallon Cars “N” Coffee has its net meeting. Location is the Walmart parking lot next to Arby’s. One can also register their ride for the upcoming Cantaloupe Festival Car Show.

Saturday morning is the next meeting for Vintage Euro Cars & Coffee.
  • That same day, from 9 until 11 a.m. the Vintage Euro Cars & Coffee will also meet. Location is the Summit Mall parking lot next to Starbucks.
This is a Show ‘N Shine at the Andelin Family Farm late Saturday afternoon.
  • Saturday, evening, from 4 until 7 p.m. the Andelin Family Farm is hosting a Show ‘N Shine. Location is 8100 Pyramid Way in Sparks.
Sunday is when Hot August Nights parades from UNR to the Convention Center. That winds up the 10-day festival.

• Sunday begins at 9 am when the Hot August Nights Grand Finale Parade begins at UNR then travels down Virginia Street under the arch. It ends at the Convention Center where the awards are handed out.

Sparks Cars & Coffee meets Sunday.
  • A little later, starting at 10 a.m., Sparks Cars & Coffee has its first meet of the month. Location is the Starbucks off Disc Drive.

RACING (4-WHEEL):

Club Rowdy is back with a three-day drifting event.

• Big local news is the return of Club Rowdy that is bringing drifting back to the Reno-Fernley Racetrack. They are hosting the three-day Hottest August Nights event that runs from Friday through Sunday and starts at 9 a.m. each day.

Racing Friday and Saturday nights at Diamond Mountain Speedway.

• To the north the Diamond Mountain Speedway, located at the fairgrounds in Susanville, has racing Friday and Saturday.

Rattlesnake has racing Friday and Saturday nights. Outlaw Karts race Saturday afternoon.

• Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon has a Friday and Saturday show. The race on Saturday is the Alan Dias Memorial and that afternoon the Outlaw Karts will be racing. Friday’s show begins at 7 p.m. while it’s a 6 p.m. start for Saturday’s racing.

Summit Raceway has the Open Wheel Showdown on Saturday evening.

• Summit Raceway, located in the Elko area, is having the Open Wheel Showdown on Saturday. Dwarf Cars, Micro 600s and A-Mods are featured.

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

Usually the Sandbox MX has open practice on Sunday. Be sure check their Face Book page before heading out.

• When this article was posted had not received the schedule for REP Racing MX. Going to guess there may be a practice Sunday at the Sandbox MX track in Fernley. Best advice is to check the Facebook pages for Riverfront, Prairie City and the Sandbox. One can also to www.repracingmx.com.

MMX Racingg has Friday night racing under the lights.

• MMX Racing is busy this weekend as Round 3 of the Friday Night Under the Lights series is happening.

Here is the weekend’s schedule for MMX Racing.

The weekend schedule is practice from 8 until 1 Saturday then from 8 until 2 on Sunday. The Vintage track is closed this weekend.

Weekend schedule for E Street MX Park.

• E Street MX Park has a ride day for the Sierra Old Timers on Saturday then open practice from 8 until 1 p.m. Sunday.

Valley OTHG is hosting the current round of the Triple Crown series.

• On Sunday the Valley OTHG is hosting Round 3 of the current Triple Crown Series. Location is at DT1 MX Park and for further information please go to www.valleyothg.com.

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

• Thursday at 4 p.m. is when Fox Sports 1 has Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour. Then at 7:30 p.m. www.mavtv.com airs the Supercar race from Ipswich.

Here is NASCAR’s schedule for this weekend.

• This week NASCAR is at Watkins Glen, New York so I’ll post that schedule here. Once again they’re putting the events behind a pay wall.

• On Friday Fox Sports 1 at 1 p.m. has the Indy NXT practice from Portland then at 6:30 (On a delayed basis) the Indy Car practice from Portland.

The series visits Ironman Raceway this weekend.

• Saturday begins at 7 p.m. when Peacock has Race Day Live then at 10 a.m. airs the next Pro Motocross round from Ironman Raceway.

  • Fox Sports 1,  starting at 11:30 has Indy Car Qualifying from Portland. Then at 5:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Indy NXT qualifying.

• Sunday starts at 10 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 has Indy NXT racing from Portland. Then at noon FOX broadcast the Indy Car race also from Portland.
