RACING & CAR MEET PREVIEW – SEPT. 11 TO 13

RENO NV (Sept. 10) – Running a bit late this week due to a hospital stay. No matter there is plenty to see.

CAR MEETS:

• Will be four events happening Friday:

Good weather means the Friday evening ride.
  • The Reno Bike Community gathers around 6:0 at the Maverik’s station on the corner of Sutro and North McCarran. Then around 7 it’s kickstands up for this week’s ride.
Old Slammers of Reno will have their weekly cruise Friday evening.
  • Not far away the Old Slammers of Reno, around 6:30, start gathering at the Northtowne parking area. Sometime after 7 they leave for their weekly cruise.
Today is the year’s final Fernley Friday Night Cruise.
  • To the east it’s the year’s final Fernley’s Friday Night Cruise. Starts around 6 p.m. on Main Street and runs for three hours.

• There are several things to choose from on Saturday:

Saturday morning is when Vintage Euro Cars & Coffee meets.
  • Vintage Euro Cars & Coffee gets they day rolling at 9 a.m. when they meet. Location is south of Doughboys Donuts at 57 Damonte Ranch Parkway.
Fallon Cars & Coffee gets Saturday rolling with their next meet.
  • Fallon Cars “N” Coffee meets starting at 8:30 a.m. for their next meet and all vehicles are welcome. Location on the Nursery side of Walmart at 2333 Reno Highway.
Saturday afternoon is when 1st Choice Automotive has its 6th annual Car Party.
  • That afternoon, starting at 3 p.m. 1st Choice Automotive and Restoration is hosting the 6th Annual Car Party. Location is 850 Marietta Way in Sparks.
Sparks A&W has an 80’s, 90’s theme cruise in on Saturday.
  • Sparks A&W, across from Reed High School, has a very different Cruise Night. Starts at 5 p.m. and it’s the 80’s 90’s Edition. All 80’s & 90’s vehicles are welcome and there is a chance it might end with a cruise.
Over in Fernley Canal Nights has an all vehicle cruise in.
  • Starting at 5 p.m. it Canal Nights All Vehicles Cruise in. Location is 1032 Inglewood Drive, Fernley.

Sunday is a busy day for car and truck folks:

Sunday starts early at Dolan Lexus on South Virginia.
  • Dolan Lexus starts the day at 8 a.m. with Cars & Coffee. Usually a good show and the location is 7175 South Virginia Street.
It’s the first meet of the month for Sparks Cars & Coffee.
  • Sparks Cars & Coffee has its first meet of the month. Starts at 10 a.m. by the Starbuck located at Disk Drive in Sparks.
They have an interesting car show.
  • Cars & Culture is meeting with a 3 p.m. Car Show followed at 5:30 p.m. with a Barber Battle. Location is 807 West 4th Street in Remo.
Sunday afternoon is the year’s final Sunday Cruise in for Summit Racing Equipment.
  • From 1 until 4 p.m. Summit Racing parts is having its final Cruise In of the year. Location is East Glendale, past the tracks, in Sparks.
Great way to unwind from the weekend.
  • A great way to unwind is the Modelo Sunday’s Cruise in Kickback. Starts at 5 p.m. at 195 West Plumb in Reno.
It’s Sunday Bike Night Dutch for Carson Cars & Coffee.

• To the south Carson Cars & Coffee at 6:30 are hosting Sunday Dutch Bike Night. Location is Dutch Bros. Coffee at 1231 South Carson Street.

RACING (REGIONAL):

Reno SCCA goes over the hill for a track weekend.
  • This weekend Reno SCCA is having a Track Day and Attack. This weekend event is over the hill at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Willows, Calif.
Starting Friday TopGun Drag Strip has 660 races.
  • To the east, and south of Fallon, Topgun Dragstrip is having the Fallon 660. Three days of action on a 1/8th mile track.
There is added money for the winners.
  • Topgun is also adding to the winner’s purse for three classes.
Rattlesnake Raceway has a full schedule for this Friday and Saturday.

• Rattlesnake Raceway, located east of downtown Fallon is having a big weekend. The racing starts Friday at 7 p.m. while Sunday’s show begins at 6 p.m. On Saturday there is the Jimmy Berhorst Memorial Race and the Modified’s have an added purse.

Saturday is the final point’s race for the Outlaw Karts.
  • Saturday afternoon is the final Kart point race of the season. Gates open at 12:30 while at 4 p.m. the green flag waves.
The Alan Dias Memorial the second memorial race on Saturday.
  • The IMCA Stock Cars on Saturday race the Alan Dias Memorial. There will be special awards and money handed out.
This Friday and Saturday are the Silver Cup races at Battle Mountain Raceway.

• Friday and Saturday evenings are when Battle Mountain Raceway hosts is next to the last weekend of the year.

RACING & PRACTICE (MOTOCROSS):

REP Racing MX has a busy weekend.

• REP Racing has a busy schedule. They also announced the Sandbox in Fernley will be open next weekemd.

  • PC MX has practice from 8 until 1 Saturday and Sunday.
Riverfront MX hosts the next Saturday Night Series.
  • Riverfront hosts the next round of the Saturday Night series. Sunday is a private ride day for OCMX.
MMX Racing has practice this weekend.

• MMX Racing has practice Friday from 8 until 1 for the Sand and Kid’s tracks. Saturday, at those times the Main is added.  Sunday’s practice is from 8 until 2 p.m. on the same tracks.

E-Street MX Park also has practice this weekend.

• E-Street MX Park has practice from 8 until 1 Saturday and Sunday. Both the front and back tracks will be used.

A very different Mini Bike event this weekend.

• On Saturday, where people gather at 7 p.m. there is a Mini Bike Meet-Up and Ride. Location is Barbara Bennett Park an 8 p.m. is kickstands up.

RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):

This is BAJA 400 weekend for SCORE International.

• All this weekend SCORE International is hosting the BAJA 400.  People have been pre-running the course, Saturday is race day and the awards are handed out Sunday.

Here is NASCAR’s TV schedule.

• NASCAR is now in the Chase and this is their TV schedule. Once again it’s all behind pay walls.

•• Thursday starting at 5 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Kevin Harvick’s Happy Hour followed by Speed.

•• Friday at 4:10 a.m. Apple TV has Formula 1 practice from Madrid then at 7:40 the network airs the second practice.

•• Saturday starts at 3:30 a.m. when Apple TV airs the third Formula 1 practice. Then at 5:55 Fox Sports 2 airs the MotoGP Sprint from San Marino.

This is the first round of the Super Motocross series.
  • Now that the AMA Pro Motocross series is over it’s time fore three race Super Motocross Championships. Round 1 is at Columbus, Ohio. Peacock at 6 a.m. has Raceway Live and the racing begins at noon.
  • Apple TV comes back on at 6:25 with Formula 1 qualifying. Then at 5 p.m. FOX has ARCA Racing from Salem.
MotoGP is in San Marino this weekend.

•• Sunday begins a 4:30 a.m. when Fox Sports 1 has MotoGP from Sam Marino. Photo courtesy sportsky.IT

  • At 4:50 a.m. Apple TV airs the Formula 1 race from Madrid. It’s a new circuit ad even has a banked corner so should be interesting. And for you NASCAR fans, the USA network will carry the Cup race.
