    MRANN headed to Purgatory Peak for the latest of its desert races. And fortunately Mother Nature mostly cooperated for the big bike race. PURGATORY PEAK (Oct. 18.) – The desert racers of MRANN assembled here this weekend for the seventh round of their series. It was the Desert eNVy 100 at Purgatory Peak staged by the Tank Slappers MC club.     Ultra4 returns to Northern Nevada with its brand of wild racing. SPARKS (Oct. 17) – The Nitto Tires Ultra4 Nationals visited Wilde West Motorsports Park this weekend. They brought their crowd-pleasing mayhem as drivers not only had to get around the track but also had to race over fields of boulders.     VORRA - Wild West Motorsports Park - Tim Comption leads Joel Counts in the third UTV moto.

    VORRA spent the weekend at Wild West and Sunday was an action packed day of racing. Mustang (Sept. 4) – The Valley Off Road Racing Association staged its final Nevada race this season on Sunday. Once again it was at the Wild West Motorsports Park and attracted local drivers as well as from California and Oregon.     Racing preview for this week is a buffet of different types of racing, live, on TV and the Internet. There is a varied menu for racing fans in this area with three different live events to fill the weekend. On Saturday afternoon the Northern Nevada Kart will bring down the curtain on their season with the annual night race at Desert Park Raceway. Practice begins around 4 p.m. and after qualifying racing will begin as they roar into the night. Any championships that are up for grabs will be decided by the time the final checkered flag waves.     Racing preview for this week and a new event on the menu. RENO – This week is another mix of different events, some local and others national. And this time there’s something new. Two events in our area are two-day affairs running on Saturday and Sunday. The new one is the Silver State Rock Crawling Championship held at the Wild West Motorsports Park. What it might lack for speed the competition compensates by offering major obstacles for competitors to negotiate.     Fallon 250 gallery is made up of just some of the photographs I didn’t use in the article about the race. This year the race was divided into two parts; VORRA’s classes started early in the morning and raced into the daylight and dust. A few hours later the Unlimiteds from the ULTRA4 series launched and raced into the night. This arrangement allowed the Ultra4 series to use this race as a west coast regional.     Racing preview for this weekend is again a menu of varied motosport events both in our region, on TV and the Internet. This weekend Fallon is the site of two very different events. The biggest is probably the VORRA/Ultra 4 Regional race known as the Fallon 250 and the pit area is east of Fallon around Salt Wells. Registration is on Friday, at Stockman’s Casino from 1 to 5 p.m. and competitors can inspect the course but at their own risk. Then at 6 a.m. Saturday production classes, 9, 11 and Full Metal start with a time limit of 9-hours.

    Myan Spaccarelli has his dream about being a full time race driver come true. And he’ll drive the big Tonka Toy at this weekend’s Lucas Oil Off Road event. Its great when a person’s dream comes true and Spaccarelli is living his dream.     Wild West Motorsports Park hosts the Lucas Oil Off Road Series this weekend.

     Racing preview for this weekend has something for almost any racing fan. Including a special event that will only happen once this year in our area. Locally oval track fans have three choices but there are two other events going on as well in a weekend filled with motor sports.   • THIS WEEK’S RACING – MAY 21-24

    This week’s racing has something for just about any type of racing fan. The biggest event in our area this weekend is the second round of the Over The Hill Gang Nationals hosted by the Reno chapter. Two days of racing, starting around 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, at the Fernley Lions Motocross or the Sandbox as it’s also known. And there will be the traditional BBQ after the races on Saturday.       VCGP HISTORY MAKING DAY   VIRGINIA CITY (April 26) – After crazy weather on Saturday Mother Nature blessed Sunday’s race with mild, sunny and dry conditions. And that set the stage for a historical day on the Comstock.   On Saturday the pros, expert and amateurs race but Sunday is reserved for Novice, Women, Bombers and Vintage Bikes.         VCGP – MUD, SPEED, BROTHER’S DUEL AND TRAGEDY   VIRGINIA CITY (April 24) – This former mining town comes alive ever April as the hills echo with the sound of motorcycle racing. This year the 44th annual Virginia City Grand Prix featured a new location for the pits and vendor area as well as a battle between brothers in the pro ranks.
