Time to look back at the 2016 motocross season, celebrate the champions and start getting ready for the 2017 season. The motocross season review wraps up both series, spring and fall, in 2016. And hopefully it’s a forecast of more racing to come this year. This time around there was no Sandbox Grand Prix, which is a fun race for bragging rights and has been very popular. The spring round began at Exit 28 then moved to Fernley, Winnemucca and back to Exit 28. The last two round began at Fernley in April and ended in Winnemucca in May. There

RACING PREVIEW: JANUARY 5 TO 8

While there are a bunch of reruns racing is finally getting going. Racing preview for this week still has a bunch in the “Rerun Zone,” but things are beginning to change with the start of racing. Locally Livfast Exit 28 will be open for practice, weather permitting, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. While it’s still pretty slim this week, next week there will be more. Over in TV land there are plenty of reruns plus a very anticipated start to a new season. Thursday begins at 3 p.m. as Fox Sports 1 airs a Supercross

RACING PREVIEW: DEC. 29 TO JAN. 1

One more week in the “rerun zone,” but fear not racing begins this weekend. Racing Preview for this week is again thin but that’s going to change this weekend. With New Year comes racing as the thunder returns. Locally Livfast Exit 28 Motocross track will probably be having practice sessions from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. When this was written there was no confirmation so one needs to check first. For those racing in the Bishop Winter Series there are practice sessions on Saturday. Usually at 8 a.m. is when the gates open followed by track time.

OVAL TRACK SEASON REVIEW

Time to look back at this year’s oval track season as we get ready for the New Year and the 2017 season. The Oval Track Season Review highlights months of hard racing for championships. Another slow week for race fans but fear not the action will begin shortly. Racing Preview this week is deep in the “Rerun Zone.” Most everyone is taking the Christmas weekend off but there’s still a bunch to see. The Racing Preview again it’s a bit slim for race fans although Northern California will have a very different event this weekend. There is also a live event on the Internet as well as a bundle of racing shows to watch this weekend. Locally Livfast Exit 28, depending on the weather, will be open for practice from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Racing preview for this week is again slim pickings when it comes to live racing and many times only reruns are on TV and the Internet. However there are some live events to be seen or to attended. Locally, and depending on the weather, Livfast Exit 28 will hold practice sessions from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There is one motorcycle event on tap in Marysville, California this weekend. It’s an AMA District 36 event at the track over there. Saturday, beginning at 8:30 a.m. has a slate of six races while Sunday, starting at 8 a.m.

NORTHERN NEVADA KART CLUB BANQUET

RENO (Dec. 3) – Northern Nevada Kart Club (NNKC) held its annual awards banquet at the Grand Sierra Hotel and Spa this weekend. Awards, including special recognition, finishes and a very special one were handed out as well as a raffle for prizes. President Brian Rivera started things off with some comments about the state of the club and his hopes for the future. Although racing in this area is over for the year there are still events local racers are heading to and fans can watch. Racing Preview for this week is again slim since the major series have ended their season. It’s the slim time of the year. As far as local racing goes its over for the next few months although there is still some live races to spectate at if one doesn’t mind traveling. OFF ROAD SEASON REVIEW

This Off Road Season for the four-wheel bunch has been a good one in this area. There were several races in our region and the Wild West Motorsports Park hosted four of them. Valley Off Road Racing Association kicked things off with their first desert race on Memorial Day weekend with an event in Hawthorne. This after they began their season in Prairie City.
