  • MOTORSPORT PREVIEW – MARCH 19-22

    With the Sandbox Grand Prix coming up motorcycle riders have a chance to tune up for this fun race at the end of the month. This Saturday and Sunday the Old Timers Motorcycle Club is hosting practice sessions, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., at the Fernley Lion’s Motocross Track.   The same venue the Sandbox will be held at on March 28/29. Local Stock Car and Outlaw Kart drivers will want to take advantage of the Playday Rattlesnake Raceway is hosting on Saturday.   • MOTORSPORT PREVIEW – MARCH 12-15

    Now that the season’s first motocross race is in the books riders are looking forward to the second round at the Livfast Exit 28 track, located east of Sparks. There will be practice from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday then short sessions Sunday morning with a 9 a.m. start to the first motos. The track is being worked on and watered all this week so the dirt should be great.   • MOTORSPORTS PREVIEW – FEB. 12-15

    Racing returns to this area as MRANN stages it’s first event of the season this weekend. The action begins at 10 a.m. when the Pee Wees start followed by the Saturday Women and Mini Bikes.   • RACING PREVIEW – DECEMBER 4-7

      Biggest happening in Nevada is down south where NASCAR has invaded Las Vegas for its Sprint Cup Championship week. And on Wednesday it was announced that Fox Sports and NBC Sports are combining forces to televise NASCAR events. The agreement is for 10-years with Fox doing the first half of the season, including the Daytona 500 and NBC Sports taking the second half, which will include the Chase for the Championship.   • RACING CALENDAR – NOV. 13 – 16

    This weekend has something for about every type of racing fan and two series determine their championships by Sunday evening.   NASCAR visits Homestead, Florida for the final race of its season and there are two championships yet to be decided. Things begin Friday when Fox Sports 1, at 5 p.m., broadcasts the Camping World Truck series. That title is on the line with Matt Crafton having a chance to win his second crown in as many years.     Only one event in our area this week as the desert racers of MRANN return to Moon Rocks and bring back their traditional Halloween event, the Purge 100 Hare Scrambles.   As an added incentive to those racers left out due to the fact there was no fall motocross season, except for the race the local OTHG chapter staged last week, MRANN is offering a free one-day card.
