RENO, NV (Sept. 6) — Nice weather highlighted two car meets this Sunday. Reno wasn’t the only place as there were meets in Carson City and Gardnerville as well.
• Sunday morning is when Reno Cars & Coffee held its first meet of the month. Location is between the Human Bean Coffee stand and Cal Ranch on Kietzke.
While it wasn’t a huge turn out there were many cars and trucks. Two bike riders even joined the show.
As expected there was a short Corvette row. They included several models.
Another car on display was this beautiful, and award winning Hudson. It’s owned by Lance Freitas, who administers the group.
Variety is the name of the game at these car meets. You find imports, pickups, and in this case an older restored Bronco. Spectators have a lot to choose from.
• Over at Baldini’s Casino the Northern Nevada Classics was hosting its third and grand finale Brunch N’ Classics. There were trophies, raffles, gift card drawings and music.
Donations were encouraged to help the Karma Box in Reno & Sparks. This group helps those recovering from drugs to straighten out their lives.
As expected there were lines of various car from different years as well as models. All were in the People’s Choice contest.
Over on one row two GM Classics were parked side by side. One was a 1950’s Oldsmobile while the convertible was a 1960’s era Chevy.
One person pleased with the turn out was Northern Nevada Classics president Kevin Degregori.
Asked about the meet he said, “This is the third one of the year and the Grand Finale. So far I think this is our biggest turn out, lot of generous donations to the Karma Box project. Not only food, toiletries but cash as well. We’re really happy about how the community has come together. “
Among the cars on display was this beautiful 1955 Chevy Bel Air Hard Top. Another example of how people are taking these classics to both restore as well as enhance them.
A great example of a restoration, with enhancements, is this Dodge pickup owned by Bob Bartoo.

Asked about the truck he said, “ It’s a 1947 Dodge, it’s the original frame rails with a 1988 Dodge Diplomat front suspension and a 1969 Road Runner drive line. It’s a vintage motor, an 11 ½ to one factory compression and it’s really an odd ball.
“It’s the original metal bed, it’s the original aftermarket heater that dealer installed, it’s the original air cleaner from the six that was in here. I tried to use as much of the truck as I got.”
He did add the truck has been setting in a yard and kids used to play on it to the top was dented as well as other parts of the body work.
Asked how it drives he said, “It’ll fly down the highway all day at 70 miles an hour. It’s been on the road for 15 years now and I got it in 2004 off the Indian reservation in Fallon”

Another more modern Mopar was this 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT. Even had this lion guarding it.
One of the rows has various cars with their hoods up. Many owners put extra work into their car’s motor and shine the up for display.
• Tuesday, starting at 6:30, Trucks & Tacos of Northern Nevada meets at Cielito Lindo. Location is 3687 Kings Row in Reno.
• Wednesday has three things happening.
- Starting at 5 p.m. it’s Bike Night at PJ&CO located at 1590 South Wells. Usually some great bikes to see, great people to meet not to mention good food and drink.
- Over at the Sparks A&W, located at 1311 Baring Blvd. across from Reed High School its Cruise Night. Starts at 5 p.m. and they have a Live DJ, Music and prizes.
– That evening, starting at 6:30, Crazy D’s Hot Chicken has Bike Night. All bikes are welcome and the location is 3652 South Virginia Street in Reno.

• Wanted to post a heads up for a special Cruise Night at the Sparks A&W at 1311 Baring Blvd. It’s Saturday night, starting around 5 and is for all 80’s and 90’s vehicles. There might even be a cruise after that.
