RENO, NV (Oct. 4) — It was a busy Sunday to start the month off. The great fall weather set the stage for a good weekend

•• Reno Jeeps & Coffee held it’s first of the month Sunday morning. While it’s not usually a huge turn out this time it wasn’t bad.

One thing a lot of Jeep owners have been doing is mounting plastic ducks on their dashboards. Here is an example from one of the Jeeps at the meet.

•• Not far away, close to the corner of Kietzke and Moana Lanes it was the month’s first meeting for Reno Cars & Coffee. As usual there were all types of vehicles including a motorcycle, T-Bucket as well as other cars.
Many times owners either put new life into a classic vehicle or buy one that has been restored. One example of this was what Dave Mantini.

Asked to describe his car he said, “ It’s a VW Beetle from 1967 with a mechanical gas gauge. I just purchased from a person that’s in Northern Washington State, this was in June of this year. It took awhile to get registered because of the paper work and I just had a major tune up on it.

He added it was a barn find and the previous owner did a frame up restoration. In fact it looks like it is brand new.
“This is a great car. I went and got a new shifter in it an boy the difference was day and night. I use it for car show and when I play tennis.”

There was also a Corvette Row. As usual there were different models from front to mid-engine models.

Over by the street there was a vintage Chevy Pick Up and appears to be all stock. This is another example of an owner giving a classic new life.

Looking into the engine compartment it also appears stock. However there appears to be some new parts added

The same goes for the interior with the original gauges on the dash. There is a crank that allows the front windshield to be rotated to let air in on a hot day.

There also was a brightly painted 1996 Honda. Except for the driver’s seat the interior has been gutted so more is to be done.
•• That same day the Northern Nevada Classics had its second Swap Meet of the year. It was in the west parking lot of Baldini’s Casino.

Right after the gate there was a blue tarp with car and engine parts on it.

There were several rows of parts, tools and accessories to be swapped or bought.

In addition to car and truck parts one booth had toys for sale.

Another had a selection of plastic models. Some were of cars while others race related items.

Near by was another booth with a selection of tools. Beside that was a booth selling tires.
All in all there was a large turn out for this show.

•• Sunday was the next round of the Museum Cup series. This time the group posed in front of the clubs logo as they are the Reno Chapter of the Cadillac Kings.

Among the cars on display was a 1963 Coupe DeVille. There was a Cadillac Avenue sign in front of it.

Another car on display was a 1965 Cadillac Convertible. Like the rest it was polished for display.
The group was led by Matt Janowski, who brought both of his ’63 Convertibles.

“ Asked about the group he said, “We’re the local chapter of Cadillac Kings, the Reno Tahoe chapter. We try and get all the cars being road worthy, dragging them, showing them and getting more people interested in Cadillacs.”
He added the car in the picture he worked on the suspension, brake system, electrical and the motor.
Asked how it drivers, he said, “Like a dream.”
At 3:30 two awards were handed out.

- Tim Cleveland won the Museum Choice plaque and will be part of the final meet where this year’s winner will be chosen.

- The second winner was Bruce Rederford who brought his 1957 Eldorado Brougham. It earned the People’s Choice award.
Later this month the Museum Cup final will be held and someone will have their name put on the cup.
