RENO, NV (Nov. 19) — Saturday was a gala evening for those that compete with the Northern Nevada Kart Club. The location was at the National Auto Museum and after a buffet dinner it was time to hand out the hardware. Once the dinner was over MC Kelsey Nelson started the ceremony. STEAD, NV (Oct. 9) — For three days this weekend the Northern Nevada Kart Club hosted the International Karting Federation Grand Nationals. This event last visited Desert Park Raceway in 2009.  Racers were competing for two desired trophies. The first is a “Duffy” the class winners earn while the next was for the driver turning in the fastest lap; the “Screaming Eagle.”  After Sunday morning’s practice and the third set of heat races everyone was ready for the 20-lap main events.  Up first were the young racers in the Junior 1 Class. STEAD, NV (Sept. 25.) — Sunday marked the end of the point’s season for the Northern Nevada Kart Club. So for them it was championship day and in Reno, the Dolan Toyota Dealership was the site of the largest Cars and Coffee gathering of the year. Perfect racing weather greeted members and visitors at Desert Park Raceway. Several drivers clinched titles while others are waiting to see how the points fall out. STEAD, NV (Aug. 27) – The annual night race usually gets a good turn but this year’s turn out was huge. With just over a month to go until the national championship event there were 107 drivers registered.  Not only is the night race unique, but it provided a chance to race on the same track the IKF national championship event will use. STEAD, NV (July 7) — Desert Park Raceway echoed with the sound of racing Sunday. The occasion was round six of the 2022 season for the Northern Nevada Kart Club.  As usual the youngsters in the Kid Kart Class raced in the first main of the day. This time there were three of them and when the green lights came on Jameson Judd and Davey Jorgenson took off while Hunter Nelson, who is very fast, was held to give them a head start.  After the first lap both Jorgenson and Judd were pretty close while Nelson was catching them. STEAD, NV (JULY 17) — A week after the KPX series visited Desert Park Raceway the Northern Nevada Kart Club hosted the next round of their 2022 season on the same track configuration.  Due to the forecast hot weather, and that only two Kid Kart drivers their first heat was during qualifying for everyone. RENO, NV (July 10) — The first of two special races this season visited Desert Park Raceway this weekend. Hosting the event, KPX Karting Championship, was the Northern Nevada Kart Club as this is their home track.  Sunday is a long day with a lot of track time. Starts off with practice then a heat race. STEAD, NV (June 12) — The Northern Nevada Kart Club held the fourth round of its season at their track, Desert Park Raceway. To say it was breezy would be an understatement as many times the “breeze,” seemed more like a gale. Because of this the barriers on the front stretch were tied to the fence with wire. However one section wasn’t and had to be strapped so it would not be blown onto the front stretch. Some thing this reporter has never seen in all the years I’ve reported these races. STEAD, NV (Sept. 5) — The Northern Nevada Kart Club (NNKC) ended it 2021 season this Sunday. They made up a round heavy smoke canceled earlier and for many it was the championship round. Starting the program was the Kid Kart Class, only three were on hand this time. Two of them had problems with Turn 5 but thanks to a pair of fathers both drivers were able to continue. Cash Prater was the first to reach the finish as he had a fast, consistent run. At 7-years-old he’s going to move up to Junior 1 next season. Hunter Nelson

STEAD, NV (April, 18)  – The Northern Nevada Kart Club opened it’s 2021 season this weekend. It was a very good turn out for the season’s first race as 77 drivers were on hand.   Desert Park Raceway can be altered for every event. RENO, NV (Nov. 29) – It’s that time again to take a look back at this unusual season so I’ll begin with the Northern Nevada Kart Club. This 2020 season was anything but normal although the club was able to get in all six races points it had scheduled. Due to the pandemic restrictions the originally scheduled rounds, April 19 and May 10 were canceled, actually postponed. Then in June the club was able to get its season rolling.
