The Northern Nevada Kart Club (NNKC) was in action this weekend. STEAD (May 21) – Desert Park Raceway echoed to the sounds of racing Go Karts this weekend. It was the third round of this year’s season for NNKC and 33 drivers showed up for the first event in summer like conditions. When the Jr-2/LO206 main began Issac Bourque was on point followed by Boden Barnwell and Chase Dulude. Eventually the race broke into groups dueling for positions. AMERICAN VALLEY SPEEDWAY: OLSCHOWKA WINS

QUINCY, CALIF. (May 20) – Wonderful late spring weather greeted the racers at American Valley Speedway this Armed Forces Day. Racing Preview for this weekend has a varied menu for those wanting to watch or see motorsports. A week before Memorial Day weekend and some things are ramping up while others are quiet this weekend. But there is something for about any race fan. One track in our area is hosting three days of action this weekend. Top Gun Raceway kicks the weekend off with $5 Fridays, from 6 p.m. until 10 people can test and tune their cars on the dragstrip. Running a bit late on this one but here’s the event that kicks off the truck and buggy off road season in our area. MUSTANG (May 13) – Nor Cal Rock Racing brought its brand of short course racing to the Wild West Motorsports on Saturday. It was a day of some wild and wooly action around the course as well as over the rocks. This time the course direction was reversed so the racers went from south to north along the front stretch. BATTLE BORN MX:BACK TO THE SANDBOX

Racing returned to Fernley this weekend at the Wadsworth/Fernley Lion’s Motocross Track. FERNLEY (May 14) – Battle Born MX celebrated Mother’s Day by returning to the Sandbox as its known for round 4 of its spring series. The hosting club this time was the Old Timer’s Motorcycle club. RACING PREVIEW: MAY 11 TO 14

Another varied Racing Preview for this weekend with several events, live as well as broadcast on TV or streamed over the Internet. Friday and Saturday is a busy time as Nor Cal Rock Racing, which runs the VORRA series brings the Metal Cloak Shoot Out to the Wild West Motorsports Park. Racing is on Saturday and, like last year, there should be some Ultra 4 entries to round out the field. Saturday is also busy with several live events. To the east Rattlesnake Raceway is in action with a 6 p.m. start to racing that also includes the Outlaw Karts.

AMERICAN VALLEY SPEEDWAY: DWARF CAR NATIONALS

The weekend began with some great racing, that is before Mother Nature threw a wet blanket over it. QUINCY (May 5) – American Valley Speedway hosted the field of 75 Dwarf Cars this weekend. The event was the Western States Dwarf Car Association National Memorial Race. Besides being a National the race honored the memory of two drivers, Dave Richardson and Leroy Kay, who perished in wrecks a few years ago. Another great weekend of racing is here. Once again Racing Preview has something for almost every type of racing fan, from live events to attend to racing on TV and streamed on the Internet. If the weather doesn’t throw a spanner in the works the Leroy Kay Memorial Race at American Valley Speedway is this Friday and Saturday. VCGP: HEATHER PICKERING MAKES HISTORY

Although shorter the second day of this year’s VCGP was historic. VIRGINIA CITY (April 30) – The annual Virginia City Grand Prix is divided into separate parts depending on which class a person races in. On the second day Novice, Women, Bombers and Vintage bikes take their turn on the course. In order to make it a bit easier on those racing Vintage motorcycles they run a course that is just over 10-miles in length. Saturday is when the pros, experts and amateurs race in the Comstock Classic. VIRGINIA CITY (April 29) – The Virginia City Grand Prix (VCGP) has been held 46 out of last 47 years. Known for being a huge challenge the event brings riders from across the west to the Comstock. This year, due to the storms in winter, the course was rougher than usual. This week’s Racing Preview gets off to a slow start then snowballs into an action packed weekend, both live as well as on TV and the Internet. The biggest event in our area is the annual Virginia City Grand Prix, a two-day event that challenges riders from all across the west. OLD TIMER NATIONALS ROCK THE SANDBOX

The first of two major motocross events visited the Sandbox this weekend for two days of great racing. There is a photo gallery at the end of this article. FERNLEY (April 23) – The Old Timers Nationals visited the Fernley-Wadsworth Lion’s Motocross Track this weekend. Hosting the event at the Sandbox, as many call it, was the local chapter of the Old Timers Motorcycle Club. This event draws riders from the western states as well as Canada. Locally the major event is a round of the Old Timers Nationals held at the Fernley/Wadsworth Lion’s Motocross track, or the Sandbox as most know it by. RATTLESNAKE: CAUTIONS AND CARNAGE

The second race at Rattlesnake was quite an exciting night for all, especially for some drivers. Most of the photographs are at the end of the article after the results. FALLON (April 15) – Rattlesnake Raceway hosted its traditional Easter Saturday races this weekend. The pits were packed with around 87 cars including Sprints, Dwarf Cars and the Nevada Pro Stock Association. Before racing started the Pro Stock field made its way to the front straight. Due to the Easter weekend this Racing Preview is a bit on the thin side although there are some live events to be seen on TV, Internet and locally. The big race in our area is the Sabio Gonzalez Memorial Race at Rattlesnake Raceway, located just east of downtown Fallon. The event honors long time race supporter and the father of the Gonzalez brothers.
