  • MOTO MOUTH MEMORIAL 100

    NIGHTINGALE, NV (Sept. 22) – After being rained out in the spring the Trailblazers Motorcycle Club finally got to run the Moto Mouth Memorial 100. The race honors long time announcer Bob “Moto Mouth” Cavakis, who passed away almost a year ago. Rather than starting the season the race is now the sixth round and begins the fall season. Great weather set the stage for Sunday’s big bike race and 86 riders showed not only to race but to honor Cavakis as well.   • RACING PREVIEW: SEPTEMBER 19 TO 22

    RENO, NV (Sept. 18) — Racing Preview for this weekend highlights cruises,  a hill climb as well as oval track and desert racing. The last of summer is upon us and the motorsports scene is changing. CRUISES/SHOW N’ SHINES: • Things get rolling down at Mills Park in Carson City with the Rockabilly Riot. The event runs from Thursday through Saturday with many events rounding out the show.   • NATIONAL HARE AND HOUND: LOVELOCK TO NIGHTINGALE

    NIGHTINGALE, NV (Sept 15) – The AMA Kenda SRT National Hare and Hound series visited Northwest Nevada this weekend for a point-to-point race. Event’s title was The Dirty 130 and Trailblazers Motorcycle Club was the host. Starting line was outside of Lovelock with the finish at the end of a frontage road at Nightingale located east of Fernley, The distance raced depended on the class a rider was racing in. As an example Masters 60+ and others finished at Pit 2 or 50 miles into the course. Others stopped at Pit 3, which was at the 90-mile mark at Nightingale.

  • RACING PREVIEW: SEPTEMBER 12 TO 15

    RENO, NV (Sept. 11) — As summer fades Racing Preview is still full of various events including two major ones in our region. That and what’s on in TV land as well as streaming on the Internet will keep fans busy this weekend.   • ROD HALL: CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE

    SPARKS, NV (Sept. 7) – Rod Hall, in off road racing he’s one of the legends. When Baja is mention he stands above the rest and is the only man to compete in all of the first 50 of these 1000-mile races. Sadly a few weeks ago he succumbed to Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). IT affects 1 in 10,000 people and at present there is no cure.     RENO, NV (Sept.2) — Davey Boy as he’s known to race fans here in Nevada and California is a veteran announcer, former racer and fan.   • FUJI PARK FLAT TRACK RACES

    CARSON CITY, NV (Aug.24) – This weekend Fuji Park Flat Track races returned for two days of wild racing inside the rodeo arena. As is traditional with this event before the pros started the evening program a color guard from the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare center marched onto the front straight.   • DESERT PARK RACEWAY HOSTS FINAL KPX ROUND

    STEAD, NV (Aug 25) – On a hot August day Northern Nevada Kart Club (NNKC) hosted the final round of this year’s KPX series. With many visitors on hand it was a day of hot racing in the late summer heat. After qualifying the drivers all race a pre-event that’s just like a heat race.
