RENO, NV (Oct. 8) — After posting the Dirt Track Championship report I realized there were a few loose ends that I wanted to tie up. Have to thank Mark Hain and Brett Wilkins for their help. This past year the IMCA classes, in addition to racing at individual tracks were part of the NAPA “ Know How 2 Get ‘er Done” series. Seven tracks and with the usual two-day format there were 13 races for points, with the final round at Rattlesnake Raceway this week. RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY HOSTS DIRT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS

FALLON, NV (Oct. 5) — For the 38th time Rattlesnake Raceway ended its season with the Dirt Track Championships. While it is a two-day affair there is a big difference. A driver’s combined finishes are used to determine how they placed in the DTC. The driver that has the best record gets the trophy, is named their class Dirt Track Champion and has a year’s worth of bragging rights. RENO, NV (Sept. 29) — This week was when the annual Street Vibrations Fall Rally was held in our region. In addition there were other car meets in the area. • Friday began at Summit Racing Equipment located on East Glendale in Sparks. For those that showed up it was the last cruise in until next spring. One row started from the middle with a vintage VW then included some great looking roadsters. RENO, NV (Sept. 26) — Missed one important item in my current preview article and was informed about a cancellation and rescheduling of another race. First and foremost, apologies to the folks out at Battle Mountain Raceway. Somehow I missed their final date and thanks to Dan Dias was informed it’s for the Silver Cup. This is a three-day show starting with regular racing on Friday, Sept. 27. Then the Silver Cup races are on Saturday, starting at 7 p.m. and ending Sunday with action starting at noon. NORTHERN NEVADA KART CLUB ENDS 2024 SEASON

STEAD, NV (Sept. 22) — The Northern Nevada Kart Club ended its 2024 season at Desert Park Raceway. A full day of racing was highlighted by good weather. As usual most of the day was taken up by practice, qualifying and two heat races. After that it’s time for the main events. RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY ALAN DIAS MEMORIAL

FALLON, NV (SEPT. 14) — This weekend Rattlesnake Raceway honored the memory of long time racer Alan Dias, whose family also races. It was a full program for both days. Saturday’s show began when the field lined up on the track prior to a memorial lap to honor Dias. On the front row were three cars raced by family members. Before the parade lap, and after the national anthem played, drivers and spectators released pink balloons. Then the field, behind the Dias family cars circled the track at a slow speed. RAD CLEANS UP PUBLIC LAND ON PEAVINE

RENO, NV (Sept. 7) — Reno Area Dirt Riders (RAD) held a clean up on the Peavine Summit Road Saturday morning. Something they that helps keep the public lands clear of refuse and it helps the Forest Service. It took weeks of effort between RAD president Mike Marcum and Brad Moore. They divided the labor with Moore getting the prizes and doing the promotional material. Mercum was dealing with the computer issues as well as working with the Reno City Council and Forest Service. DIAMOND MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY LABOR DAY RACES

SUSANVILLE, CALIF. (Sept. 1) — Diamond Mountain Speedway ended its regular season with a two-race program on Labor Day Weekend. After a full set of heats and mains on Saturday at the Sunday show, only the Mini Stocks had a heat race but the other four classes had a 6-lap dash for cash plus their mains. The Dash winners were, Jared Flower in Street Stocks, Jace Wright in IMCA Northern Sportmod, Robert Mull in IMCA Stock Cars and Jace Wright who won the IMCA Modified dash. OUTLAW FLAT TRAC RACES AT FUJI PARK

CARSON CITY, NV (Aug. 24) — The 8th annual Outlaw Flat Trac Races were held this weekend at Fuji Park. It’s a Friday-Saturday show with amateurs racing in the afternoon followed by the Pro racers. Rains came Saturday but they were able to get the amateur heats and races in. Then the rains came again but stopped in time for the opening ceremonies.
