FERNLEY, NV (June 13) – First day race of the season drew an expected small field to the oval at 95 Motor Sport Complex. This was due to the season opening race in Susanville. No matter as the racing was intense and the Hobby Stock main provided many thrills for the fans, it was a case of saving the last for best. RENO, NV (June 10) – Racing Preview for this weekend has more events plus car meets. As the weather warms up and the lock down eases there is more to do and see. CAR MEETS: • Once again the Friday cruise in Fernley that begins at 7 p.m. by the Wigwam. The route goes east, circles the round about and returns. I’m told people line the streets to see this. RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY: SEASON OPENER

FALLON, NV (June 6) – Rattlesnake Raceway opened it’s 2020 season with a two-day show that included the latest round of the I-80 Challenge. Although Saturday’s winds were a bit challenge that didn’t slow down the racing. After the A Modified race winner Jake Mayden, from Springfield, Oregon said, “It was a bit eventful, kind of got torn up in the beginning. We’re just trying to find our own groove and mind our own business. Got into third and got in clear traffic, I felt I was gaining on the leaders and the caution came out at the right time.

DESERT PARK RACEWAY: NNKC SEASON OPENER

STEAD, NV (June 7) – Desert Park Raceway echoed with the sound of racing as the Northern Nevada Kart Club finally was able to start its 2020 season. It was a cold, windy day and in the end Mother Nature didn’t cooperate. In fact with the weather in mind there were only one set of heats. Then after several weather delays it was time to star the main events. First up were the Kids Kart class and four of these youngest racers took the green flag. Up front Noah Nobels was on point chased by Cayden Duncan and Cash Prater.

BIG NEWS: • Unfortunately this year’s Hot August Nights has been cancelled. One reason of course is the current virus situation but apparently there are others as well. FERNLEY, NV (May 29) – New owners and warm weather greeted fans and racers as the season began at the 95 Motor Sports Complex. The car count was good including 26 A mods ready to do battle on this dirt oval. RENO, NV (May – This week begins with Memorial Day but racing and other events continue today and to the weekend. As a result this article will be abbreviated. This weekend Battle Born Motorsports had a drifting and grip event at 95 Speedway. That’s the road course behind the 95 Motor Sports Complex oval. Promoter Adrian Buyten said many people camped out there Saturday night and he was very pleased with the event. “It went really, really well and there were about 40 cars,” he said. BATTLE BORN MOTORSPORTS: DRIFTING IN NORTHERN NEVADA

RENO, NV (May 15) — Battle Born Motorsports is the creation of Adrian Buyten. He created it after seeing a need for his favorite motorsport, drifting and has been working to develop it to this area. Asked how he got interested in drifting Buyten said, “I had an 85 Merkur XR4TI, a super rare Europen Ford rear drive with a 2.3 liter turbo motor. It happened in the rain getting sideways and that kicked the rear out a little bit. I’ve been hooked every since.” That was in 2003 and he started sliding around parking lots, especially after it snowed.
