SPARKS, NV (Dec. 28) — The year ended with Sparks Cars & Coffee meeting Sunday. Although cool temps keep the turnout low, there was still a pretty good variety. Among the group was a red and a black Corvette. Each was from a different generation. As expected there was a line of imports. One of them had its hood raised so people could see the motor. • RENO, NV (Dec. 14) — With two weeks to go before Santa’s big ride there were car meets this weekend and two of them were in Reno. On the racing side we’re deep in the Re-Run Zone but that will end just after New Year’s. • On Saturday morning the Vintage Euro Cars & Coffee had its monthly meet. CAR MEETS: • Thursday morning around 8 a.m. is when Kim’s Kruisers visits Kim’s Donut and Tea House. Location is 1328 U.S. 395 North in Gardnerville. • Carson Cars & Coffee has a double header this weekend. On Friday, at 6:30 p.m., they meet at the Dutch Brothers Coffee stand located at 1231 South Carson Street in Carson City. Then they have an encore on Saturday at the same time and place. •

RENO, NV (Dec. 7) — Two car clubs started separately then combined their toy runs on Sunday. That same day the Northern Nevada Confederation of Clubs had its annual toy run. Reno Cars & Coffee got things rolling with their first weekend of the month meet. As usual there were many types of cars and even a motorcycle. Several brought toys and one put his on the motor of his car. It was the groups 10th annual Toy Drive. Lance Freitas, who runs the group, brought his decorated 1953 Hudson. RENO, NV (Dec. 4) — The 53rd Race Promoter’s Workshop visited Reno this week. The Workshop brings the short track industry to the Biggest Little City. Tuesday evening is when people signed in or registered at a social meeting where a buffet was served. This allows everyone to get reacquainted as many came from all over including Alaska and Canada. One big change is the organization has a new Executive Director, Lisa Jansen, who has an interesting background. “My claim to fame was that I was the Director of Special Events at the Nugget,” she said. “I was the Rib Cook Off Queen, had a blast, loved it and I’ve always loved special events.” Jansen was at the Nugget for five years and was there when it was sold. FALLON, NV (Nov. 15) — Rattlesnake Raceway held it’s annual Awards Banquet on this night. Once again it was at the Eagles hall. If a driver won the championship in a car class they also got a Champion’s Jacket s well as a trophy. Those that scored the top points had trophies or plaques given to them.
