RENO, NV (FEB. 13-15) – The AMA Arenacross series visited the Reno Sparks Livestock Center this weekend. The pros raced Friday and Saturday evenings then, after the track was adjusted for safety, amateurs raced Sunday afternoon. • Friday was the first day of the full program.  As usual the supporting classes ran their heat races and their first mains in the afternoon. RENO, NV (Feb 1.) — The AMA Kicker Arenacross visited the Reno-Sparks Livestock Center this weekend. On Friday and Saturday the pros raced Rounds 8 and 9 of the 10-race series. The night began wish pros signing autographs then it was time for the show. First there were heat races, a B main as the field was set for the main events. RENO, NV (Nov. 17) — After the pros raced for two nights the course was altered and the Amateurs to got their turn. As usual there are many classes and they ran a set of heats then mains. REPORTER’S NOTE: While I’m including all the classes due to an accident was only able to stay for the heat races. As a result wasn’t able to stay for the mains but I’ve got as many pictures of the eventual winners as I could. RENO, NV (Nov. 15) — The Reno/Sparks Livestock Events Center was busy place this weekend. That’s where the 2024/2025 AMA Arenacross season began. Friday and Saturday were for the Pros while Sunday the amateurs had their turn on a modified track. • Day two of the Arenacross was Saturday with the same schedule as Friday. RENO NV (MAY 18) — The first StadiumGP rocked the Reno Rodeo Arena this weekend. On Thursday was qualifying followed by a concert, then Friday and Saturday were both race days. There were a variety of classes but the Pros raced for $10,000 on Friday an $10,000 on Saturday. Saturday evening, after the opening ceremonies, things started rolling with the three classes of Futures. These were racers 17 and under. Peyton Maas won in Class 1 while Lucas Evans won Class 2. FERNLEY, NV (MARCH 31) — The second round of the 2024 Battle Born MX series was held at the Fernley Sand Box on Easter Day. The started off slick and pits were a bit muddy from Saturday’s rain but the cold north wind helped dry things out. There was a huge turn out despite the weather. In the 50cc Class the Open race has 23 starters while the 6 & Under group had 21 on the gate while 7 & Up had 19 starters. The 65cc and 85cc classes also had large numbers on the starting gates. RENO, NV (Jan.20) — Those that race and support the Battle Born Motocross series assembled at Boomtown this Saturday. Before things began there was a moment of silence honor BBMX member Seth Clark, who passed away in 2023. After that the board members and sponsors were honored. As usual there was a large amount of things sponsors gave that were raffled away during the banquet. STEAD, NV (Oct 8) — A wonderful, warm fall day greeted the racers in the Northern Nevada Kart Club. Round 7 was the season ending event where championships were decided or confirmed was well as some earning their first victories. After qualifying and a pair of heat races everyone was ready to start the main events. As usual the Kid Kart Class got things started. This time they used a rolling rather than a standing start. FERNLEY, NV (Sept. 24) — The Reno chapter of the Old Timers hosted a motocross at Fernley 95A Speedway this weekend. The event was round 8 of the 2023 BBMX season and around 400 riders showed up so there were 23 motos plus one club moto.  When the second 250/450B and Pro gate dropped Casey Carmichael took off and left everyone his dust. Behind him Walker Thomas led the B group. At first Ryan Hansen and Rich Thorwaldson were chasing Carmichael. At the finish Carmichael won the pro side while Thomas won both of the B motos. FERNLEY, NV (May 20) — This Sunday the Reno chapter of the Old Timers MX hosted the fourth round of the BBMX series. It was a crazy day but had a “winner take all,” special race for the pros. After the first motos ended there was a “Dash 4 Cash,” where the pros would have a 5-lap winner-take-all race for extra money. There were seven pros on the line and when the gate dropped Chad Heishman took off and essentially left everyone in his dust. Lap after lap he increased his lead and won the event. WINNEMUCCA, NV (March 19) — Cool, cloudy weather greeted motocross racers as they opened the 2023 season for Battle Born MX. In the pits where were license plates from California, Nevada, Idaho and Utah as the turn out was great. For one 17-year-old Salt Lake City racer it was a grand  and fast day. After starting the second set of motos and winning the Open A&B race Greg Wilcox said, “It’s getting rougher, the dirt’s still good but the track is definitely getting gnarly.
