RENO, NV (Nov. 12) — Lovelock Speedway held its banquet and awards ceremony this Saturday. Over in Fernley on Saturday and Sunday the motocross track known as the Sandbox held its first official practice sessions. • LOVELOCK AWARDS: There was hardware to handout to the top three in six classes that raced at the track. The track had its first full season after being dark for the past couple of years. In addition to the trophies there were jackets for the class champions. RENO, NV (Oct. 8) — This weekend the last major national series ends its 2023 season. In our region there are three races left, an awards banquet as well as a test event at a renewed motocross track. RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY AWARDS BANQUET

FALLON, NV (Nov. 4) — The annual awards banquet for Rattlesnake Raceway was held at the Eagles hall. Most of the racers and their family members showed up. After a nice banquet it was time to start celebrating the champions, top points earners and rookie of the year. First up were the Mini Stocks. Unfortunately the 2023 champion Kent Knisley was unable to be there. At season’s end Knisley had 770 points while second place Cooper Lee had 746 points. RENO, NV (Nov. 1) — Big time change this weekend as well as car meets and motocross events over the hill. In addition NASCAR has its championship weekend. CAR MEETS: Reporters Note: These meets will depend on the weather although the hardcore car people will be there. • The big event this weekend is at Fernley Ninetyfivea Speedway. It’s the annual FERN 45 event that includes a verity of events including an off-road poker run Saturday. The event supports veterans and starts Thursday. • Thursday morning gets going early, at 7 a.m., when the Iron Mafia meets at Kim’s Donuts.

RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY: HALLOWEEN RACES

FALLON, NV (October 28): The oval track season for Northern Nevada came to a close with the Halloween Races at Rattlesnake Raceway. As a special treat, after the heat races there was a trick or treat session for the youngsters on the front straight. The weather while clear and windy was cold but there were four features with five classes. The IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Northern Sport Mods ran separate heats but a combined feature while the Street Stocks had the largest car count. In the Bootlegger feature it was no contest. Over the past few years sprint car racing in Northern Nevada has been an up and down affair. DIRT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS – RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY

FALLON, NV (OCT 7) — This year the 37th Annual Dirt Track Championships was a two-night affair with racing Friday and Saturday. Nine classes were racing for wins and the class championships based on a driver’s finishes for both nights. First on the racing card were the Dwarf Cars and seven of took the green with Ryan Parkhurst briefly on point. Next to lead was Vuki Wilson Jr. but moving toward the front was Friday’s winner, Joe Frock. After that the chase was on but in the end Frock scored another victory. Round 7 was the season ending event where championships were decided or confirmed was well as some earning their first victories. MRANN AT BLUE WING FLATS

BLUE WING FLATS, NEVADA (Oct 1) — Under a gray sky with some light showers Austin Serpa made a dramatic come from behind victory. The weather insured there was no dust although it was foggy at the top of the hills due to some low clouds. Sunday was the big bike day and a 50-mile long loop facing the riders. As usual to be classed as a finisher one had to complete one full lap. At the starting line there were 88 riders divided in their respective groups. The new AA Class had six riders and they compete for money.
