RENO, NV (Aug. 25) — This weekend there is racing in our region but only a few car meets as it is the fifth weekend of the month. However there is bunch on TV and the Internet. Biggest race in our area is the 5th annual Outlaw Flat Trac even at Fuji Park. The track is located at the south end of Carson City and its two days of intense racing. Due to the pit area there are some restrictions for parking. The amateur show gets going about 11:30 both days and those mains end around 4 p.m. followed by

FALLON, NV (Aug. 22) — Despite smokey skies Top Gun Drag Strip had a sound postponed by the high heat in July. The meant another $5 Friday and a slight adjustment in the running schedule. Despite the haze Sunday turned out to be a great day of racing for all concerned. After getting times the eliminations began working its way down to the final rounds. RENO, NV (Aug. 18) — Racing Preview this week is full of events, both live and on TV as well as the Internet. As summer winds down its time for racers to gather all the points they can and if possible to qualify for playoffs in the series that have them. CAR MEETS & CRUISE INS: • While it might not be a regular car meet Top Gun Dragstrip has its next to last $5 Fridays and times are from 6 until midnight. FALLON, NV (Aug. 14) — Rattlesnake Raceway has a two-day show on a hot, hazy weekend. Due to the fires in Northern California clear days have been a rare item this summer. This time the race-of-the-night came first when the Bootleggers ran their main. This class is a new version of Bombers. First on point was Jeremy Lampley, who later set the fastest lap at 18.095 seconds. Next leader was Joseph Keough until Taggart Garland took the lead. A caution had the field revert to the previous lap but on the restart Garland used an outside move in Turn 1

RENO, NV (Aug. 11) — This week’s Racing Preview has cruises, car meets plus racing and some cancellations. Still there is something for about any car and racing fan. CAR MEETS & CRUISES: • This Friday, starting at 6 p.m. is another Fernley Main Street Cruise. Meeting place is at the Wigwam and the cruise goes from the intersection with 95A to to the round about and returns. A great way to either cruise or just enjoy the passing scene. • Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. the Reno Corvette Club starts it’s 50th Anniversary Celebration at the National Auto Museum

LOVELOCK, NV (Aug. 7) — After being dark last year due to the Lovelock Speedway Silver State Racing is open once again. This weekend it helped the town celebrate it’s founding with the two-day Frontier Days races. After Friday’s races it was apparent the track needed work so a group of volunteers pitched in running the water trucks as well as wheel packing and blading the track’s surface. RENO, NV (Aug. 2) — This week Hot August Nights begins but the weekend was also full of car meets and cruises. After a year’s absence car people are going to enjoy the festivities. Friday and Saturday was when Hot August Nights began up in Virginia City. Around 400 cars lined C Street and everything from exotic to ordinary was on display not to mention the crowds of people enjoying the scene. RENO, NV (JULY 28) — This week’s Racing Preview is full of car meets, cruises as well as some racing. NASCAR is still on it’s two-week break but there are plenty of other things to enjoy. CAR MEETS: •Big news is that Hot August Nights returns after being canceled last year. Things get going Friday and Saturday, starting at 9 a.m. in Virginia City. LOVELOCK, NV (July 24) — After being dark for a full year the Lovelock Speedway Silver State Racing had its grand reopening this weekend. It was a Friday-Saturday show and this season the track will have four racing weekends. During the driver’s meeting the promoter said the track will be smoother when everyone returns for the Frontier Days two-day show. After the heats it was time for the main events. When the green waved 13 Bookleggers charged into Turn 1. This class is really the new Bomber division and many of the cars have flags or interesting paint jobs. Up

RENO, NV (July 21): — Another summer weekend with Racing Preview. Still a bunch on the menu as we are heading into Hot August Nights. Great news as the lights are coming back on for a track in our region. CAR MEETS: • The final Thursday night cruise in Carson City, from 5 until 7 p.m., will meet at Battle Born Harley Davidson. The dealership is located at 2900 Research Way. • The final Friday cruise in at Summit Racing Equipment is this week. Things get rolling around 5 p.m. and the location is 960 E.
