    STEAD, NV (Sept 16) – The Stihl National Championship Air Races completed a week’s worth of qualifying and competition under wonderful weather Sunday. And it was a history-making event for at least two classes of racing planes. International Formula One has a history that dates back to the golden days of Air Racing. These are usually home built aircraft for the sole purpose of racing. Due to their size they usually race in the morning around a 3.1875 mile course.     CARSON CITY, NV (Aug. 25) – The Western Flat Track series made its third appearance at Fuji Park in Carson City this weekend. Like the other two events it was standing room only for the evening show. The rodeo arena is converted into a short track oval for these races. All types of bikes were included and the day was divided into two segments; amateurs in the afternoon then pros for the evening part.     STEAD, NV (Aug. 18) – Desert Park Raceway hosted the final round of this year’s KPX series. Unlike the other rounds it was a night race and the NNKC (Northern Nevada Kart Club) was the host club. NNKC President Rodney Rivera was pretty pleased with the turn out. He explained that in the last two visits there had been from 89 to 90 karts but this time there were 115.     FERNLEY, NV (Aug. 11) – Fernley 95A Speedway not only hosted the Nevada Pro Stock Association but dedicated the night’s racing to the family of Chris Juhl, who was badly burned in a pit accident at Fallon on July 4th. Track owner Dan Simpson informed everyone at the driver’s meeting that all proceeds from the night would be donated to the family to help with their medical expenses.
