    RENO, NV (July 16) — On the hottest day of the year Reno Cars & Coffee had its second meet of the month. Fortunately it began at 10 a.m. so it wasn’t that hot although the turn out was less than normal. There were also a few motorcycles. One black Harley was parked next to a black Corvette.     RENO, NV (July 13) — Due to receiving up dates after I usually post the preview I’m switching to posting them Thursday. Any Thursday happenings I’ll include in Monday’s article. CAR MEETS: • While this week’s is late I’ll include schedule for the Carson City Thursday Nite Cruisers. Only two more after this week. • Summit Racing, located on East Glendale in Sparks is having another Friday Night Cruise. Should be cooler and a good way to wind up the workweek. It starts around 5 p.m. • Saturday gets rolling when Fallon Cars “N” Coffee hosts another of its meets.

    STEAD, NV (JULY 9) — A warm summer weekend greeted the Northern Nevada Kart Club. It was time for round 4 of the season at Desert Park Raceway. Since the hill wasn’t used, and it was a short course so there were more laps in the heats and main. There were 90 registered drivers racing this day. First go was the Kid Kart Class. These are the youngest racers and their main was only 10 laps. It seemed to be a runaway for Paisley Purdy. However behind him Presley Prater had been closing the gap. They were very close and

CAR MEETS: • Starting Thursday in the west parking lot of the Sparks Nugget is the13th annual Rockabilly Riot. There are a host of things happening at this event through Saturday. • Friday evening, starting at 6 p.m. is another Fernley Main Street Cruise.   • RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY NIGHT OF FIRE

    FALLON, NV (July 4) — The 4th of July races at Rattlesnake Raceway are when the track host the town’s fireworks show. They had fireworks in the sky as well as on the track. After the heat races ended there was a demonstration by Ranger Joe driving his monster truck Airborne Ranger. After that drivers lined up on the front straight for a candy toss. Later, during a short intermission, Ranger Joe returned and again jumped some wrecked cars on the infield. It was a crowd-pleasing display. First on the racing card were the IMCA Stock Cars.   • RENO CARS & COFFEE GETS JULY ROLLING

    RENO, NV (July 2) – Reno Cars & Coffee had its first weekend of the month meet on Sunday. Weather was great although getting warmer. In the mix was a Triumph Bug Eye Spitfire. This one sported Texas Classic Car license plates. Not far from them was a restored/altered Model A Ford Pickup. The pickup is owned by Michael Babcock, whose business is North Tahoe Classic Cars. He’s been restoring cars for several years. “I found it down by Cabo,” he said. “It was on the beach, completely rusted out and I only found the bed and body down there.

  • MINI MOTO SERIES VISITS DESERT PARK RACEWAY

    STEAD, NV (June 25) — Rounds 5 of this year’s Mini Moto Series visited the Northern Nevada Kart Club’s home track, Desert Park Raceway. While Saturday’s event was all Asphalt on Sunday there was a short dirt section, with a tabletop, whoops and other things added. First event was the Pee Wee/Junior and when the lights turned green Madix Harkin, who was the only junior, too off and left everyone in his wake. One Pee We fell out even before the race started.   • END OF JUNE RACES AT LOVELOCK SPEEDWAY

    RENO, NV (June 25) — Lovelock Speedway ended June with a double header. There were races both Friday and Saturday evenings and the event was the Coeur Rochester Night at the Races.. After the heat races everyone had a chance to catch their breath and get ready for the feature races. First up were the Bootleggers. On the green Ryan Parkhurst took off and left everyone in his dust. Jerome  Kleve tried to catch him but slowed with mechanical problems. He ended up on the infield Up front Parkhurst took the victory followed by Lovelock resident John Flowers in second.

    RENO, NV (June 19) – Father’s Day had an oval track race Saturday followed the next day by a huge show and shine at the Bonanza Casino.     STEAD, NV (June 11) — Although Desert Park Raceway was hit by a pretty good storm Saturday afternoon, Sunday was very different. A pretty good attendance as there were 91 racers despite the threat of weather. Due to the weather the usual schedule was altered. After practice there was one longer than usual heat race then the mains were reduced to 14 laps. The Kid Kart Class for the youngest racers gets the mains.   • OCTANE FEST AT RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY

    FALLON, NV (June 10) — Rattlesnake Raceway hosted its annual Octane Fest this weekend. Rain Saturday evening slightly delayed the program but it set up the track so it was fast. First feature were the IMCA Modifieds. After the green waved first on point was Clifton King with Steven Anderson giving chase. A spin by Wade Lumsden brought out a quick caution.
